Amidst all the other consumer products Lenovo announced today, one may make its way into several rooms in your house. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential is a new networked digital smart clock designed to be used in multiple rooms.
In contrast to the Smart Clock Lenovo unveiled at CES 2019, the Smart Clock Essential is a basic clock with a smart trick up its sleeve. While last year’s Smart Clock had a fully-featured LCD screen akin to a tablet, the Smart Clock Essential features a simple LED display for reading the time and other quick information like the current outside temperature.
However, the Smart Clock Essential packs many of the same features as the more expensive Smart Clock. This is thanks to the inclusion of the Google Assistant and voice control features. Users can ask Google to tell them the time, give them an update on the weather, or control other smart home devices like smart lights.
In addition to the Google Assistant, the Smart Clock Essential has an alarm that can be set either through voice commands or via buttons on the device. It also has a built-in night light to gently illuminate dark rooms and a USB port for charging other electronics.
The Smart Clock Essential is compatible with over 40,000 smart home devices from over 5,000 brands, according to Lenovo. It also includes a 3 Watt speaker for playing music.
The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential will be available in September 2020 for €59.99.
