Lenovo's mobile computer scores points with a powerful Ryzen 9 5900HX APU, 16 GB of RAM, and a bright, high-contrast 14-inch display (2880x1800 pixels, 90 Hz, IPS) in the 16:10 format. This is accompanied by good battery life and low noise and heat development.

The performance in sustained loads, paired with some very well-balanced power profiles, thermals, and noise levels are the primary selling point of this series over other compact notebooks with similar capabilities. Alongside, this Yoga Slim 7 Pro 14-incher is also built very well, offers a big battery and several good 16:10 screen options. On the other hand, the limited IO, the finicky inputs, and the lacking audio might steer you away, but for the most part, I expect this Yoga Slim 7 Pro to be a solid buy in its class, as long as available in your region.

So, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro (14) can be a multifunctional device because of its powerful hardware, good display, and nice keyboard/touchpad combo. You can use it at your home as a daily driver – it’s light and compact and carrying it around is an easy job and tasks like Web browsing and watching videos aren’t a trouble for this particular machine thanks to the snappy CPU. Moreover, because it’s a powerful laptop with a high-res display, you can use it for office work. Indeed, gaming is possible on this machine, but its “Pro” moniker is somewhat justified by the powerful processor options.

It seems that the Lenovo Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X (14″, 2022) is a very special device. It’s a multipurpose small “monster” – it has enough CPU power thanks to the efficient AMD Zen 3+ processors. Sure, these aren’t as powerful as the Alder Lake-H chips that can be found in the Intel iteration of the laptop but the overall performance is good and the notebook is always snappy. On the other hand the iGPU is much much better compared to the Intel integrated offerings. Thermals are just good – the CPU temperatures are always in check and the frequencies are higher that the base clock of the processor. This is possible because the cooling solution is beefy and it’s doing its job well no matter the load. You can use the device for video editing or even for content creation – it has enough power under the hood and the hardware will not throttle. The noise levels are okay even during heavy stress and in normal usage it’ll be hard for you to hear any noise coming from the two fans. Speaking of content creation, the hi-res 120Hz display (BOE NE145F8M-N61 (BOEAA8)) is just great, it covers 94% of the sRGB gamma and the color accuracy reaches an average dE value of just 0.8 with our Gaming and Web design profile. This means you can use the notebook for color-related work as well. The build quality of the machine is solid – the design looks modern with these round edges, and the all-aluminum chassis is sturdy – there is almost zero flex around the keyboard area even when you type harshly. Speaking of the keyboard, this one is great for typing and it also has a backlight. The touchpad isn’t lacking behind – it has a glass surface, and it’s fast and smooth. Now, the memory is soldered which is a typical scenario when it comes to compact devices. On the other hand, the maximum possible amount of RAM is 32GB of LPDDR5 which sounds feature-proof. We were presently surprised by the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 ProX. It offers better cooling performance than the Intel version, the build quality is great, the keyboard is comfortable for typing, the performance is always there when you need it, and the display is a small gem for any kind of usage. Oh, yes, and the iGPU is crazy fast for an integrated solution.

At the end of the day, the Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X is a great laptop for day-to-day use and some lighter creative workloads. The AMD Ryzen processors and discrete Nvidia graphics offer quite a bit of performance, though they fall a little short of expectations. If you want the most power for creative workloads, you can probably find better options. But what the Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X does have is a fantastic display that’s very color accurate, sharp, and smooth, plus it has solid battery life considering its specs.

In a tight field, the Slim 7 Pro X stands out thanks not only to its great performance and features, but great value proposition. The alternatives are largely much more expensive for less speed, and while there are some advantages on some of those models, like OLED screens, the Pro X’s core feature set and components are as good or better. You can find lighter and smaller laptops, but even among pricier options, few offer this combination of performance and size. One of the best 14-inch laptops in any category, this comfortably earns itself our Editors’ Choice award.

Lenovo’s Slim 7 Pro X has broad appeal. It’s an excellent laptop for prosumers who want one do-it-all laptop for productivity, portability, and light gaming. Yet it should also hold the attention of professionals who want a functional, portable laptop that can handle heavy tasks like video editing or render workloads. The Slim 7 Pro X does have a few flaws. Connectivity is weak due to the lack of Thunderbolt 4, Ethernet, or a dedicated video-out port. Display quality is good but can’t match OLED alternatives. And the laptop’s battery life, while passable, falls slightly behind the pack. These issues are minor, though, and not hard to forgive given the Slim 7 Pro X’s strong overall performance, attractive design, and competitive pricing. It’s an excellent option for prosumers and professionals who want most of the benefits of a premium laptop, like the MacBook Pro 14 or Dell XPS 15, below $2,000.

This Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X generation checks a lot of the right boxes in its niche of powerful compact laptops. Compared to the previous model, this is a more refined design with an updated display and slightly different IO and inputs, as well as a significantly more capable performer and longer-lasting on battery use. At the same time, though, better audio and a wide-gamut panel option would have been appreciated.

A new breed of 14-inch laptops mates thin and light chassis with potent components. We’re talking laptops that are 0.7 inches or slimmer and running 35-watt and 45-watt CPUs and discrete GPUs. Such parts were once reserved for 15-inch and larger machines that are bigger and thicker, providing better airflow to keep things cool. The performance results with these 14-inch laptops have been decidedly mixed. But that doesn’t stop new machines from being released, including Lenovo’s Slim 7 Pro X that packs in a 35-watt AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor and an Nvidia RTX 3050 discrete GPU. That performance combined with the attractive design makes the Slim 7 Pro X another winner in Lenovo’s lineup.

i7-12700H: Alder Lake based mobile CPU with 6 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 20 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 1.7 to 4.7 GHz and supports vPro.
Intel Alder Lake-P:
i5-12500H: Alder Lake based mobile CPU with 4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 16 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 1.8 to 4.5 GHz and supports vPro.
i5-1240P: A mid-range 28 W Alder Lake family CPU featuring 4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. This SoC is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops. The i5's performance cores are Hyper-Threading-enabled for a total of 16 threads. Core i5-1240P runs at 1.2 GHz to 4.4 GHz; it has a built-in 80 EU Iris Xe GPU and supports "Essentials" tier vPro features.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

86.77%: This is an above-average rating. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that about one fifth of all tested models receive a better rating.
