Leak reveals potential AMD Strix Halo iGPU naming scheme

The AMD Strix Halo series has yet to be confirmed by the company, but it's expected to be unveiled at the upcoming CES 2025 event. Of course, the recent chipset driver confirmed that the new APUs will use the Ryzen AI Max 300 naming scheme, and now, a new leak has shared the possible naming of the new iGPUs.

This leak comes from a well-known Chinese leaker, Golden Pig Upgrade. The tipster shares that the upcoming RDNA 3.5 iGPUs of the Strix Point lineup are likely to get Radeon 8000S branding. The top-end option will reportedly be called the Radeon 8060S, and is said to feature 40 CUs.

For reference, the Radeon 890M of the Strix Point lineup has 16 CUs, and according to our benchmarks, it can offer up to 18% performance uplift compared to the Radeon 780M in gaming. With up to 40 CUs, the performance leap of the rumored Radeon 8060S could be even more.

The middle-of-the-line iGPU in the lineup will reportedly be called Radeon 8050S, and it's said to feature 32 CUs, which is again better than the Radeon 890M. Interestingly, the leak highlights that there will be one iGPU with 16 CUs, but its name has not been disclosed.

Besides the iGPU naming scheme, the leak also sheds light on the APUs that the Strix Halo lineup would initially introduce. Golden Pig Upgrade shares that there will be four, with the starting option featuring six Zen 5 cores and the top-end is said to sport 16 Zen 5 cores (12-core Ryzen 9 9900X curr. $382.55 on Amazon).
