The LUCIIDA motorized wheel e-bike conversion kit is now crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The product can help you tackle inclines up to 30°, with power assistance available across five modes, from leisure to climbing. You can shift between 0%, 50% and 80% assistance, adjusting the force required from your pedalling.
The patented 250 W 38 Nm brushless motor can assist you at speeds up to 32 kph (~20 mph), and an integrated sensor helps to provide a more natural feeling ride. The kit comes with a 10.5 Ah 18650 lithium-ion battery, providing up to 130 km (~81 miles) assistance range on a single charge; you can fully recharge the power pack in around 3.5 hours. Also included is an LCD monitor to mount on the handlebars, displaying information such as your speed, distance travelled and remaining battery.
The company claims that the gadget is easy to install, requiring only one wire connection once you have replaced the rear wheel on your bike. The device is rated as IP65 waterproof, which should withstand varied weather conditions, and the motor is listed as weighing 1.9 kg (~4.2 lbs). The lowest pledge level on the Kickstarter campaign for the LUCIIDA Motorized Wheel Conversion Kit is US$249. The product is expected to cost US$499 in the future and is due to ship worldwide in May.
