Huawei's HiSilicon division has come one step closer to making its supposed Apple M3 rival official, according to a new tip. The leak also purports to identify the "PC processor" as part of the Kirin series. It is also thought to have specs in common with the Intel Core Ultra series.

As if Intel doesn't have enough problems already, its products are said to face a renewed onslaught of competition from in-house chipsets from Huawei's HiSilicon group.

The upcoming processor is supposedly destined for either desktop or laptop PCs, and is said to have a generic instruction set...like that of ARM, the basis for Apple's increasingly well-established M series, perhaps.

Unlike the new M4 line, HiSilicon's next offering might have to settle for older 5 nanometer (nm) or even 7nm production technology, yet has reportedly challenged the M3 in an earlier leak.

It is also thought to integrate DRAM, like its up-to-date counterparts from both Apple and Intel. Then again, it is referred to as a "CPU" in its latest leak, which apparently consists of an official Chinese safety certification for components of this type, alongside others from other OEMs such as Longxin and Shentai Information Technology.

The tip also seems to confirm that it will launch as the Kirin X90 soon, possibly by the end of March 2025.
