The DS Pixel Pro is a new keyboard that is being financed as part of a crowdfunding campaign. Supporters can currently pre-order a unit a reduced price of around $299, but this comes with the usual risks associated with crowdfunding campaigns. For example, there is no guarantee that the product will arrive in the advertised quality or that it will arrive at all.
Split keyboard with displays
The DS Pixel Pro features an unusual design in several respects. Firstly, it is angled rather than straight, which is intended to improve ergonomics. Whether this actually makes it more comfortable to use will likely depend somewhat on user preferences. Secondly, the keyboard comes with two displays, which can show virtually any image content. The usefulness of this feature, however, is debatable: while transparent keys are used, they do significantly obstruct the view of the screens.
Hall effect sensors and rechargeable batteries included
According to the manufacturer, the device uses Hall effect-based switches, which are relatively new and allow the adjustment of the desired activation depth, among other things. The polling rate can be increased to up to 8,000 Hz. Wireless operation is also possible, and the 20,000 mAh battery is said to provide a runtime of up to 12 hours and can be charged with up to 30 watts.
