Huawei has already sold 100 million handsets this year
Although they unveiled this daring plan a while ago, it now looks like Huawei is on the right track and the Chinese brand might overtake Apple's smartphone sales by the end of next year. Earlier this week, Huawei unleashed the Nova 3 handset and, during the special launch event, Richard Yu unveiled that the company already managed to sell 100 million smartphones this year.
Back in 2017, Huawei reached the 100 million units milestone on September 12, so 2018 can easily be considered the company's best year already. On the other hand, when compared to the sales figures achieved 7 years ago, Huawei's 2018 performance is astonishing: the sales have increased by more than 51 times.
These excellent results are not surprising since the P20 lineup that was introduced in March is very popular in many markets. Last month, Huawei revealed that the combined sales figure of the P20 and P20 Pro flagships had already managed to reach the 6 million units barrier.
Although the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 flagship will not be available in swarms, it will surely help the Chinese brand to become even more popular. After all, Huawei and Honor handsets are extremely well positioned in the mid-range sector in many markets, although beating Xiaomi in India is not something that easy.
Now, it only remains to see if the company succeeds in meeting the 200 million units shipped during 2018 milestone, not to mention the plan of beating Apple next year. Do you think they have what it takes to do it? Let us know in the comments.
