Huawei’s TalkBand is a novel gadget, as it combines a wearable fitness tracker with a handy Bluetooth headset. The predecessor TalkBand B5 is an elegant-looking device that offers a considerable range of features, including a sleep monitor, activity modes, heart-rate tracker, remote camera shutter, and the typical functions you would expect from a Bluetooth headset. Obviously, the Huawei TalkBand B6 will offer more of the same, but in a new and improved form.
Unfortunately, the new leak concerning the Huawei TalkBand B6 doesn’t reveal too much about the specifications, apart from the fact that the wearable can count on the Kirin A1 chip for processing. The Kirin A1, which also stars in the Huawei FreeBuds 3, supports Bluetooth 5.1 and promises low latency and low energy consumption. There is also mention of a metal frame for the wearable, voice assistant, remote camera control, hall sensor, motion data recording, and a professional sports function.
The images of the TalkBand B6’s packaging and the video clips showing the Bluetooth headset in action reveal that it has a larger display than its predecessor and there certainly seems to be no shortage of data appearing on the screen. Apparently, the display measures 1.53 inches and is a flexible type with anti-glare covering. The predecessor TalkBand has a 1.13-inch AMOLED screen for the sake of comparison.
The Huawei TalkBand B6 will have to be overflowing with utilities to justify its likely considerable price tag. While Xiaomi targets the affordable end of the wearables market with the Mi Band range, Huawei will be aiming higher, with the TalkBand B5 costing 999 yuan (US$142) at launch time in 2018. Expect the TalkBand B6 to have similar dazzling looks but with greater functionality when it’s time for its own launch, which seems like it could be coming soon.
