Huawei P9 flagship could be revealed this upcoming March
The latest rumors from Chinese tech site mobile-dad.com claim that the Huawei P9 may be set for an early Q1 2016 reveal. For comparison, the current Huawei P8 was released in April of this year, so a March 2016 reveal time frame for its successor makes sense for a yearly refresh. Additionally, XiaomiToday.com is also claiming to have the latest leaked specifications on the upcoming Huawei flagship.
Accordingly, the P9 is expected to be 5.2-inches with a QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, octa-core Kirin 950 SoC, 4 GB of system RAM, and an integrated Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. The same Xiaomi Today source is also citing two rear cameras for potential 3D content.
As for the current P8 Max, the P9 max will allegedly ship with very similar specifications as its smaller brother including the Kirin 950 SoC, 4 GB of system RAM, and Android 6.0 pre-installed, but with a larger 6.2-inch QHD display instead.
We will have to wait until next quarter to find out if these rumors prove to be true. The Huawei P8 scored very well in our tests and the Chinese manufacturer itself recently announced a 100 million smartphone milestone.
