Huawei Nova 8 details revealed ahead of December 23 launch
Huawei's smartphone business has never seen tougher times but the company continues the make the most of what it has with several devices in the pipeline. Following the launch of the Mate 40 series, Huawei is set to launch the Nova 8 lineup next, and details of the device have surfaced.
The Huawei Nova series has typically been a sub-premium lineup with a mix of mid-range and flagship hardware. The Nova 8 appears to continue that tradition, albeit with arguably less oomph to its name. The Huawei Nova 8 will sport a curved 6.57-inch FHD 90 Hz OLED. There's a hole punch at the top center of the display, keeping with industry trends.
Under the hood will be the Kirin 985. One would expect a Kirin 990—the chipset on the Mate 30 Pro—but that doesn't appear to be the case here. Perhaps Huawei has run out of supply of the Kirin 990? Other specifications include a quad-camera setup at the back with a 64 MP main camera, and a 32 MP selfie camera. The Nova 8 will get its power from a 3700 mAh battery. That's rather inadequate these days, especially considering it's a 90 Hz display. There's 66 W fast charging, though, so owners of the Nova 8 will be able to top up quickly at least.
The Huawei Nova 8 will be launched on December 23.
