Huawei updates EMUI 11 upgrade plans in two regions
Huawei has confirmed that it has commenced the rollout of EMUI 11 in two regions. There were signs that the OS update had reached some handsets in Turkey, but Huawei claims that Canada and Asia Pacific are the first regions to receive EMUI 11. As expected, only the Mate 30 and P40 series, excluding Lite models, are eligible for EMUI 11 so far.
Additionally, Huawei states that it is pushing these updates in batches, rather than releasing them to every eligible handset simultaneously. Anecdotally, this means that it could be months before some Mate 30 or P40 series devices receive EMUI 11, despite being supposedly eligible to upgrade. People who own carrier-locked devices will probably have to wait even longer for EMUI 11, too.

Huawei is yet to begin rolling out EMUI 11 in Africa, Japan, Latin America, the Middle East, North-Eastern Europe, Russia or Western Europe. Some of these regions should begin receiving EMUI 11 this month, but many others must wait until January 2021. Meanwhile, the majority of devices will be without EMUI 11 until a vague 'Q1 2021' at the earliest.
The slow rollout of EMUI 11 globally is in contrast to Huawei's efforts in China. Earlier this month, the company boasted that it had already brought over ten million devices onto EMUI 11 in under three months. We have no way of verifying this claim of course, but Huawei has plenty to do before it can make that claim for EMUI 11 upgrades outside of China.
