Reviews for the Huawei Nova 5T
Honor smartphones originally were profitable sprouts of some Huawei models that were not much older. At least, this was the case before the subsidiary began to strengthen its own identity and move ahead, as for example when it was first to introduce a the 48-MP camera in the Honor V20. But the Nova 5T from Huawei is really an Honor 20. In this way, Huawei can still use the Google services, since the Honor 20 was introduced to the market before the deadline in the USA.

For a phone of its price, the Huawei Nova 5T met our expectations and sometimes exceeded them. It’s attractive, feels modern to use despite some older components, and is smartly engineered, particularly the outer shell with its narrow chassis and fingerprint scanner/unlock button combination. And because it still has Google Apps and the Play Store available, it’s a phone suitable for anyone, not just Huawei diehards who are willing to get the company’s products at any cost.

There's nothing surprising about this phone in 2019, and there shouldn't be, even given its flagship-class processor, its good cameras, and its premium build. The only debatable party poopers are the use of an LCD (which isn't that bad), no dust and water resistance (which is rare at this price anyway), and we think it'll mostly come down to whether you're okay with the lack of expandable storage and a headphone jack - and whether you can get used to the slight dissonance in EMUI OS versus cleaner Android builds on, say, the Pixel 3A XL.

The aforementioned 6.26-inch All-View Display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7%, the phone also complements the exquisitely 3D Holographic glass designed nova typography monogrammed on its exclusive Midsummer Purple variant. Besides that, there's also Crush Blue and Black which look great as well. And for convenience's sake, Huawei have integrated the fingerprint sensor at the side of the smartphone for easier one-hand operation with style.

The Nova 5T nails the basics to provide a highly polished mid-range option. It has a gorgeous design, great battery life and cameras that can even compete with some flagships. Some premium features are missing, such as an OLED display and wireless charging, but these are not deal breakers for most people. Ultimately, the presence of Google Play services means this phone will be far more successful in Western markets than the Mate 30 series ever could be.

Huawei addresses many of the most common wants in this segment: a powerful processors, a great camera, decent battery life and a great feel. The Huawei NOVA 5T is very hard to dismiss and while it does have its faults, we're mostly nitpicking by that point. At Php18,990, competition is short if we're pitting value and performance and its very hard to deny that at this price point, the Huawei NOVA 5T has excellent value offering.

The Huawei nova 5T represents an excellent blend of performance and affordability with an otherwise solid design, good rear cameras and a flagship class processor though some concessions are made like the lack of an audio jack and expandable storage. If you can live with these trade-offs, the nova 5T is a great proposition that punches above its weight class.

The Nova 5T delivers quite a lot of value that’s hard to ignore despite its faults. Sure, Huawei likely added the terribad macro camera to pad out the feature set so they can claim it’s a mid-range phone with a quad-camera, but there’s no denying the value that the Nova 5T brings to the table.

Huawei really priced the Nova 5T aggressively in the Philippines – the phone retails for Php 18,990 in the country, even better than its price in neighboring Malaysia where it was first unveiled. The Nova 5T has a lot of value going for it, thanks to its good endurance, beautiful looks, flagship innards as well as quad-camera setup. It’s hard to beat the sheer value proposition that the Nova 5T brings to the table, and it’s a perfect choice for people looking for an excellent mid-range phone for their daily driver.

So, if you’re looking for a flagship-grade Huawei smartphone but don’t have the budget for the P30 Pro, this is the one to get.

Huawei's phone business may be embattled due to software problems but it has not stopped making new phones. While most of them have not made it to European shores, the latest Huawei Nova 9 is an exception to this. In terms of its design, this device is still considered thin at 7.8mm and light at 175g. This definitely makes it rather portable while the curved edges keep it comfortable to be held on too. The rear camera module on the back comes in two different circles which houses the main camera and the remaining lenses. However, this model has no Gorilla Glass on the display and there is also no water or dust-resistant IP rating. As far as the display is concerned, the Huawei Nova 9 has been incorporated with a large 6.75-inch Full HD+ OLED display with high colour coverage. This is paired with an impressive 120Hz high refresh rate. In addition, there is also an under-display fingerprint reader, which can be quite fast and reliable. In terms of its performance, this is a firmly mid-range device which uses the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset paired with an 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. It is undeniable that this is not the fastest or most powerful phone on the market, but it has got more than enough power for the average user. The performance is rather smooth and fluid even when multi-tasking, and there is enough power to run any modern smartphone game too.
In terms of its battery, the Huawei Nova 9 comes in with a 4300mAh battery which is enough for the phone to last a day’s use fairly comfortably, but definitely not enough to stretch it to two days unless for an exceptionally light usage. Fundamentally that makes the battery life fairly average for the modern market as there are phones with better battery life out there, but this is obviously not the worst though. As for its camera, this smartphone carries a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The main camera being encased in its own circular housing, utilizes Huawei's RYYB pixel arrangement which the company prefers especially for low light performance. However, in this device it is not combined with optical image stabilization (OIS) which is key to really excellent night photography. Overall, in daylight the main camera is exceptional with rich colours and vivid detail in a range of conditions. Though in darker lighting results are good, the lack of OIS does show. Apart from that, the ultrawide does the job in decent lighting, but there is a marked drop in detail compared to the main lens while colours tend to be washed out. There is also a 32MP selfie camera which is quite decent. Overall, it is a great phone to be considered if the absence of Google Mobile services is not an issue.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
