The MateBook D 16 has been refreshed to support Intel Raptor Lake-H processors, thus making it one of Huawei's most powerful laptops to date. While the MateBook D 16 2024 starts with a Core i5-13420H, it can be equipped with the 14-core Core i9-13900H, which integrates 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores across a 45 W TDP. Supposedly, the processor's 5.4 GHz peak clock speed and two large fans help the MateBook D 16 2024 run up to 1.42x faster than other larger Huawei laptops like MateBook D 15.
Based on Huawei's product page, it has decided against offering the machine with a discrete GPU (dGPU), which leaves the Iris Xe Graphics G7 and its 96 Execution Units (EUs) to handle graphics tasks. In other words, the MateBook D 16 2024 is unsuitable for intense gaming despite featuring the same processor as many recent gaming laptops. Still, the lack of a dGPU should allow the machine's 56 Wh or 70 Wh batteries to deliver respectable battery life.

Additionally, Huawei equips the MateBook D 16 2024 with a 16-inch IPS panel that resolves at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio. According to the company's product page, this display peaks at a rather disappointing 300 nits with a 1,200:1 contrast ratio, plus 45% NTSC and 100% sRGB colour space coverages. Surprisingly, all SKUs feature 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD, although only the latter appears replaceable.
As the images below show, Huawei installs a single USB Type-C port for charging, a full-sized HDMI port, a 3.5 mm jack and a USB Type-A port on either side. The MateBook D 16 2024 will be available in China, where it starts at CNY 4,599 (~US$647) with an Core i5-13420H. Alternatively, the machine is configurable with a Core i9-13900H for CNY 6,499 (~US$914). Like the MatePad Pro 11 2024, Huawei has not confirmed global availability or pricing yet.
