Honor 7

The Honor 7 comes with a 20 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera. Its panorama mode enables excellent landscape shots with its scratch resistant sapphire lens. The front camera has a soft front light for capturing better and brighter selfies. There are also 10 levels of beauty mode settings and this makes taking perfect pictures such a breeze. The 5.2 inch HD display has been optimized for low power consumption and it is encased in a solid, high quality aluminium body. Although the display is 1080 x 1920 pixels unlike other high end models which come with QHD displays, this is pretty reasonable for the price range. Beneath the camera on the back of the phone is a fingerprint sensor which is positioned exactly where the index finger naturally sits when picking up the phone, requiring very little effort to use it. Furthermore it works well with wet or sweaty fingers. The CPU powering this device is a Quad-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53. The Honor 7 supports dual SIM. However, one of the SIMs only uses the slow 2G network and you sacrifice microSD card expansion, if you want to run a second SIM. Still, it's nice to have a dual-SIM phone. The Lithium-Polymer battery rated at 3100 mAh lasts 8h and 20 min of talktime and up to 250 h in standby mode.

Honorable mention. Shortly after the launch of the Huawei P8, the manufacturer offers another device with similar specifications, now under the label of its subsidiary Honor. Unlike the P8, the Honor 7 is not focused on a slim construction, but tries to attract customers with a higher battery capacity. Our review reveals if this is a success.
80% A solid flagship smartphone for a ridiculous low price

Honor has once again impressed us with a flagship smartphone at an outrageous price. For under £250 you get a lot of phone for your money. Performance is good with the main camera and fingerprint sensors being the highlights on the hardware side. Emotion UI isn't our favourite Android skin but it's perfectly usable and you can always change it if you like.

A trip down London’s Brick Lane introduced me to a new smartphone from Huawei’s Honor range. Following the release of its top-of-the-range P8 smartphone, Huawei has now refreshed its Honor range which is aimed more at the budget section of the market. The Honor 7 is a 5.2-inch smartphone that comes with the tag line of “For The Brave”.

For all that, though, the Honor 7 is a grower. Quirky software means some of you may not like it too much on day one. However, give it a tweak or two and by day three you’ll love the thing. Not to mention have an extra up-to-£150 left in your pocket saved over buying one of the big-brand flagships to spend on sweets.

The Honor 7 is one more addition to my argument that you don’t need to spend more than Rs. 25,000 to own a great smartphone. It has an impressive, sturdy design, a great camera, swift fingerprint sensor, and a UI that is a refreshing change from the stock Android-driven smartphones out there, and it really gets the job done well. If you have a budget of Rs. 25,000 and are looking for a smartphone, then the Honor 7 can definitely be at the top of your list.

Given its price of 350 euro (roughly $400) unlocked, the honor 7 is still an okay smartphone, but there are at least several alternatives that spring to mind right away. The Moto X Play, for example, costs about the same, all while delivering great battery life and running a near-stock, bloat-free version of Android. There’s also the Asus ZenFone 2, which may be a bit plasticky, but it delivers smooth performance and costs considerably less. If you don’t mind spending a few extra bucks, there’s also the LG G4 with its fast processor, QHD display, and very capable camera.

“Value for money” is a phrase that is sometimes overused, but here it really does apply. This is a phone I’ve used as my daily driver for quite some time now and, I have to say, I really like it. The handset has some neat features such as Signal+ for switching between masts quickly and that clever app monitoring system which does indeed increase battery life, improve performance and keeps the phone running like it should. The motion controls, which let you rearrange icons by shaking the device or to move icons by tilting the device, they’re really good. It’ll let you flip the phone over to mute, make calls by raising the phone your ear and you can draw gestures to open an app.

The Honor 7 has all the makings of a great mid-range smartphone, but concerns over its build quality, its frustrating version of Android and terrible battery life means it can't help but fall short of its goals. At this price, the £270 Motorola Moto X Play is much better value if you can't get hold of an invite for the OnePlus 2, but if you'd rather save some money, the £200 Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is an excellent alternative.

The Honor 7 is a solid handset with a useful fingerprint scanner, and it gives you plenty of bang for your buck - and it feels a whole lot more premium that it actually is. The lack of NFC is annoying and EMUI can get in the way, but if you're willing to look past these nuances, for a SIM-free handset, £250 is a steal for a phone that doesn't cut too many corners.

The Honor 7 is a well-built smartphone that offers great value for money. However, its heavy Android skin and lower than average battery life diminish its overall appeal. The Huawei Honor 7 is a well-built, all-metal phone. It seems to have been specifically targeted at users that mostly use productivity and social apps, with an emphasis on photo-sharing, especially selfies. The Ascend Mate 7 is without a doubt one of the most premium smartphones Huawei has ever released and the Honor 7 aims to continue this, with a new improved build, additional features and a much better camera in a smaller, more manageable body. With a strong battery, solid construction and its clever sensor swipes – giving a big boost to bog-standard Android's usability – the Honor 7 casts a long shadow in this price range. The inclusion of a fingerprint reader, 20-megapixel camera and an infrared transmitter for this sort of cash is unheard of. It has a higher resolution screen than the Moto G too. Plus, if you get in early, there’s a generous 50 euro discount, bringing the price down even lower. Honor could be onto a real winner here.

Honor 7 review: Premium metal at budget price
Source: Androidbeat English Archive.org version
Given that I only had a day to try out the Honor 7, making this more of a ‘preview’ than a ‘review’, I can’t evaluate battery life. However, there’s a meaty 3100 mAh cell inside, and Honor says it supports ‘Fast charging’. Which may or may not be the same as Qualcomm’s standard, we’ll need retail hardware and chargers to check that. I was also impressed by how cool the Honor 7 stayed, given the octacore chipset and the issues the high end Snapdragons have been having. All that metal helps and, apparently, there’s special heat dissipation engineering inside.

There’s no denying that Huawei’s Honor brand has made somewhat of a splash on the market by offering a premium experience at an affordable price and the Honor 7 is certainly no different. So there you have it for this in-depth look at the Huawei Honor 7! Overall, the Honor 7 is a really good phone, with its beautiful display, impressive battery life, a fantastic fingerprint scanner, and good camera. Performance is smooth and snappy for the most part, save for the most graphically-intensive of games, and while the Huawei’s take on Android can take some getting used to, the slew of shortcuts and gestures available enable a good experience. There are some really good options available out there in this price range though, such as the top version of the ASUS Zenfone 2, the Axon Phone by ZTE, and the Moto X Play, which you might want to consider instead.

Sadly, a fail is a fail regardless of how noble it may be, so despite its promise there isn't quite enough to make the Honor 7 stand out from the crowd – something that Huawei needs it to do if it's to make it big in the west.

Honor 7

While the Honor 7 targets a competitive segment of the smartphone market, if my opening impressions are anything to go by, it’s definitely got the chops to carve its own space. Featuring a premium metal design, the Honor 7 is chocker-block full of top end components – even when compared to its main competitors the OnePlus 2 and Moto X Play.

Huawei Honor 7 Vs Honor 6 Plus
Source: Android Authority English Archive.org version
There’s no denying that Huawei’s Honor brand has made somewhat of a splash on the market by offering a premium experience at an affordable price and the Honor 7 is certainly no different. The key thing however is that with the Honor 7, Huawei has made less trade-offs and offers both a premium build and a premium experience at an incredibly affordable price tag.

Huawei Honor 7 review

At the end of our review, we can't help but feel a little confused. Was the Honor 7 the right thing to do? This isn't about the phone's pros and cons, mind you. It just feels odd that the Honor 7 is so similar to the Huawei P8 - and in some ways obviously better. Unless these two are exclusive to different markets, which is quite likely, there is no point getting the P8, is there? And that's as good a compliment as they get for the Honor 7.

Huawei Honor 7 Review
Source: Reg Hardware English Archive.org version
Wu Dezhou, Huawei's Director of Product Line for Honor, said that the Honor 7 targets 3 main DNA characteristics: quality, battery life, and signal. And in most cases, Huawei was able to deliver. The build quality of the smartphone is definitely something you'd expect from a top tier device and shatters any preconceived notion about Chinese-made smartphones. Although they could have thrown in a fast charger in the package, the 3,100 mAh battery isn't half bad and is one of the biggest in the market. Huawei's use of two cellular antennae is also rather ingenious. And the fingerprint scanner? Definitely something to look for in other high-end smartphones.

Honor 7X

The Honor 7X is the result of 28 prototypes and 15 months of design development work. The in-hand comfort is exceptional, and Honor has managed to sidestep the common problem of slipperiness too. Even with a light grip, the Honor 7X never feels like it is going to escape from the hand. For a very reasonable price, a user can benefit from modern trends and features such as narrow bezels and dual lenses, which is a fantastic choice. The body is made of metal, and the glass on the front has a 2.5D curved effect, blending in perfectly with the rounded sides of the phone. The back of the Honor 7X is flat, with a matte blue finish on our review model. There is also a fast fingerprint sensor in an easy to locate, recessed and chamfered spot. In the top, left are two pronounced camera lenses. It is here where more savings are made, because the camera lenses on the Huawei P10, Mate 10, and even the Honor 9 are flush against the rear panel. To look at the Honor 7X it is nice and functional if not exactly jaw-dropping. The biggest selling point in terms of aesthetics is definitely the 82.9 % screen-to-body ratio. It is not quite as impressive as something like the S8 or the iPhone X but it puts it ahead of the Pixel 2XL even which can only claim 76.4 %. The bigger screen does not necessarily mean a bigger phone, and the advantages of an 18:9 aspect ratio screen are there. More content fits on the screen in landscape format and gaming and videos get more immersive. The display menu in settings provides a full-screen mode, where a user can choose which apps automatically open up and use the total length of screen available. It often pops up in-app too, to save jumping into the settings. Sadly, there is no way to hide the Android navigation buttons like there is on the Mate 10 Pro. The dual camera lenses, which sit inside two raised bumps on the back of the phone, are perhaps the least visually-pleasing part of the phone. But it is easily forgivable because they perform well. Due to sharing the same Android user interface as other Huawei phones, the Honor 7X’s camera app will be familiar to anyone who has used the Huawei P10 or Mate 9. The app is simple, logical, and packed full of features. Slide to the left to show the options list, and slide to the right for different camera modes. Icons for special features are shown along the top of the screen. The main f/2.2 aperture lens has 16 MP, but the secondary lens has only 2 MP. The second camera does not exclusively shoot in monochrome, unlike many Huawei phones. The dual cameras work together to produce a bokeh or blur effect. The software has also been tweaked to speed up wide-aperture focusing by six times, and improve low-light performance. In terms of power, the Honor 7X is sporting a Kirin 659 octa-core processor, running four cores at 2.36 GHz and four at 1.7 GHz and with a Mali T830 GPU. For those looking for extra storage, the Honor 7X will take an SD card up to 256 GB. The Honor 7x is practically a cheaper Huawei Nova 2i, which is also a budget 18:9 aspect ratio device from Huawei. It is almost completely identical in all ways and is definitely a better choice. Other alternatives include the Oppo F5 and Vivo V7 Plus. Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam Honor, being a subsidiary of Huawei, focuses on producing affordable mid-range phones. Its latest offering, the Honor 7X uses this idea to create a 2017 flagship-like phone at lesser than half the price of a flagship. To begin with, the Honor 7X comes in black, blue and gold. The design is very 2017 with no buttons on the front part and a 77% screen to body ratio. This is made possible by the 18:9 screen aspect ratio which gives a bigger screen in a smaller form factor. The body is made from metal all around, giving it a premium feel and the matte finish manages to stay away from fingerprints quite well. The case is rounded at the edges making this phone easy to be held and stay well in its user’s hands. It weighs in at 165 grams and has a dimension of 156.5 x 75.3 x 7.6 mm. The Honor 7X comes with a 5.93-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1.080 x 2.160 pixels giving it a density of 407 ppi. Its viewing angles are good, but its brightness can be low for usage under direct sunlight. Unlike recent flagships, the screen is not rounded at the edges to match its body. This give a rather weird look to the front part when the screen is turned on. At the bottom is the micro USB charging port, a speaker and a headphone jack. It is loud enough for regular usage and frankly, nothing more can be expected from a smartphone in this price range. At the back is the dual camera, a flash and a center positioned fingerprint reader. The Honor 7X has one of the fastest fingerprint readers among smartphones. It unlocks the phone instantly every time it is used. The Honor 7X manages to keep up with another 2017 trend which is the dual camera setup. Its primary camera is a 16MP sensor and the secondary one is a 2 MP lens used mainly for enhancing photos in the portrait mode. The 8 MP front camera can also take good portrait mode photos by using some software enhancements. This feature is also seen in other similar budget devices like the Oppo F5, Huawei Nova 2i and Vivo V7+. In terms of performance, the Honor 7X is equipped with a Kirin 659 octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built in memory. It will also take in a micro SD card with up to 256 GB. These specs give it more than enough power to navigate through the UI and apps without any lag. It will also play most of the games on the playstore with minimum to medium graphics setting. The Honor 7X is shipped with EMUI 5.1 running on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. It might get the Android 8.0 update but this has not been confirmed by Huawei. It has a 3340 mAh battery which supports fast charging even with that micro USB port. It will charge up to 55 % in about an hour, which is good enough. Early reports from users also say that the software is optimized well enough to give it a good battery life. The Honor 7X joins the budget friendly flagship like smartphones towards the end of 2017. For its price, it offers quite a lot and will definitely make it into many pockets. It main competitors are the Huawei Nova 2i, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, Vivo V7+ and Oppo F5. It has some good features to stay on top of this devices but falls short in some areas. Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

No $200 smartphone is perfect, but the Honor 7X is a jack of all trades not a perfectionist. It's arguably the best balance of design, performance and features in its class, even if its rivals do certain things a little better. The $229 Moto G5 Plus offers a marginally more powerful processor and a faster-charging battery. There's also a case to be made for the ZTE Blade V8 Pro, which features a USB Type-C port and now costs $20 less than Honor's latest.

For audio, you get Huawei’s Histen effects which lets you either play with the EQ or enable a ‘3D sound’ mode where you can adjust a slider from Near to Front to Wide. Unlike on the Mate 10 Pro, those 3D modes seemed ineffective, and it was far more useful having a customisable equaliser to add bass.

Suprisingly enough the 7X rings in at $199.99 which is cheaper then the Honor 6X that came before it at $250. The Huawei-made Honor 7x is a perfect example of the China-base brand’s utter lack of fear for competition in the global budget phone market. This is a lower-end-of-highest-tier smartphone masquerading as a budget phone. If it weren’t for the pricetag of $200 (or thereabouts – even less in some stores right this minute), I’d swear it was aiming to do battle with Apple’s iPhone 8.

Budget phones aren’t all created equal. All budget phones are going to come with some compromises, and the Honor 7X has its fair share. But I do think this is one of the best budget phones on the market right now, and it has more plusses than it does minuses in the overall big picture. I think budget-minded buyers would be served well with this device. The snobbier smartphone buyers need not apply.

Here in the United States, there's a big gap in the phones that people buy. Most customers either buy a premium handset that costs over $800 - usually on an installment plan from a carrier - or they buy something that costs under $200 and pay full price. The Honor 7X fits quite nicely in the latter, because I'm not sure that there's anything better for the $199 price point.

Running a combination of Android 7.0 (Nougat) and EMUI 5.1, a boot-up from cold takes 35 seconds (not a speed record but reasonable). The overall performance delivered by the Honor 7X is of a reasonable standard apart from the disappointing length of time produced by the video viewing test. Switching between apps was acceptable with smooth scrolling and minimal delays. Overall the Honor 7X is a welcome addition to the Huawei family of products.

Honor 7X review: The most phone you can get for under $200
Source: Good Gear Guide English Archive.org version
The camera quality and lack of wireless charging are to be expected for a budget phone, but the display more than makes up for them. Simply put, you won't find a screen this big or on another phone in this price range. Pixel for pixel, it even competes with the Mate 10 Pro, which is four times the price. The lack of USB-C is the one major drawback—which was driven home every time I had to plug it in.

If you're on a strict budget and don't mind microUSB, the Honor 7X should definitely be on your shortlist of handsets. Keep in mind that it's an international unlocked phone, so Verizon and Sprint customers are out of luck (and don't count on that changing anytime soon). But if it works on your network, you're not likely to find a better value in an Android phone.

Frankly, if you are looking for a trendy new ultra-wide phone, without breaking the bank, it is hard to beat Honor's value proposition on the 7X. Circling back to the earlier financial aspect of things, however, there is a major asterisk here. Checking some of the other options we listed on your local market is a good idea. If nothing else, look around for the Huawei Mate 10 Lite, since many carrier, especially across Europe are offering it with a subsidised price, which might even the price of the two.

Despite the odd pricing between storage options, the Honor 7X has plenty of things going for it, including it’s 18:9 display and slightly better CPU performance (not GPU) in comparison to the Xiaomi Mi A1. But then again, the build quality and camera performance (in daylight at least) stand out, making it a better choice over the Xiaomi Mi A1. If you ask me, the 32 GB storage version (priced at Rs 12,999) is quite the deal even when compared to a high-end version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

However, if you want a good-looking phone that can do most things well, then the Honor 7X is an attractive proposition at £269. It could be more refined, but Honor’s focus has clearly gone on the premium design, and in that area the phone is definitely class-leading.

The Honor 7X is shaping up like an easy phone to recommend. $200 gets you a solid, good-looking phone, with a tall, 18:9 screen and peppy performance. EMUI 5.1 feels rather tired and a bit cartoonish, but the functionality and performance within give the user much customization and plenty of speed in day-to-day tasks. As for the camera, it does seem promising, but we'll have to test it further before we give it our final verdict.

Honor 7X review - Another worthy mid-range cameraphone
Source: Tech Nave English Archive.org version
For what it's worth, the honor 7X is a worthy mid-range smartphone that possesses a good camera, good battery life, reasonable performance and a pretty sturdy body yet looks fairly good at the same time. If I really have to nitpick, it would be that the bokeh effect could have been better, charging time needs to be faster, and gaming performance is just so-so. But those are just small issues.

Honor has been doing really well in the smartphone industry, we saw a wide range of Honor smartphones and they all seemed impressive, take the flagship Honor 8 Pro, or the 4-camera phone Honor 9i, as well as the newly launched Honor 7X. The Honor 7X, priced at ₹12,999 sounds a worthy midranger, it offers a bezel-less design, premium touch, reasonable specs and offers a long lasting battery life. At $200, the Honor 7X is priced similarly to the Moto G5 Plus. It has a sleek build that incorporates a tall, 18:9 aspect ratio to maximize screen real estate, along with solid overall performance, and decent camera capabilities. The G5 Plus, meanwhile, gets you a traditional aspect ratio, stock Android, and longer battery life. It's a slightly better choice than the Honor 7X for most users, but if you prefer the 18:9 design, by all means get the Honor—the differences in performance are negligible. If you're looking for an even more affordable option, the Moto E4 offers just enough power to meet basic phone needs.

The build quality and general resilience of the design (mostly metal) might be something to consider as well because, in the $200 range, many phones tend to feature more plastic parts. Finally, big-screen enthusiasts on a budget will love how comfortable the display is. In short, Huawei/Honor hit where it counts: display, battery, industrial design. This is probably the best near 6-inch phone we’ve seen at $200.

Some may criticize the Honor 7X for its lack of USB-C charging port, but who cares? It’s just a charging/data port. You’re not going to be plugging in external monitors or eGPU hardware here. Source: Tech PP English Archive.org version
The Honor 7X starts at Rs. 12,999 for the 32 GB variant and we think the device is right up there with any of the well-established smartphones falling in this range. For its price point, it has no glaring shortcomings. It has a great display, good battery life, performs well, has a super rich UI and has a decent camera which actually makes it a tough competitor for most of the devices in this price bracket, which includes the likes of the Xiaomi Mi A1, the Moto G5s Plus, the Lenovo K8 Note and the Nokia 5 and even the good old Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 which is a bit elderly but is still in running. The very fact that the Honor 7X can easily hold its own in this company tells you just how good it is. If you are looking for a premium looking, dual camera device with an 18:9 aspect ratio display and are on a tight budget, this might be as good as it gets. Or should that be, as ‘Honor’-able as it gets?

Honor 7X’s advantage right now is the big display and the better dual-rear cameras at a price of Rs 12,999. If you can look past the camera capabilities of the Honor 7X, then it certainly is a good option for customers looking for a smartphone in this price category. It's a good looking device which delivers more than satisfactory performance. Throw in a full HD bezel-less display and a good battery life and you get a smartphone that certainly won't disappoint you. However, if camera is a decisive factor in your buying decision, there are options from brands like Motorola, Xiaomi and Oppo which you can look at. Still, if Honor is your preferred brand then you might consider the Honor 9i as well.

For Rs 13,000 device, the Honor 7X isn’t the best. It has a great display and good battery life and the overall performance is average at best. It loses out to the Mi A1 as far as the camera is concerned and graphically heavy games like Asphalt 8 stutter on the device. Honor 7C

The Honor 7C is a low-cost Android smartphone and the most affordable dual-camera phone on the market. It offers face unlock, dual rear cameras and a large screen on a serious budget, which makes it worth considering. The smartphone is very well made, crafted from a mixture of aluminum and 2.5D tempered glass, which is a design combo typically reserved for high-end smartphones. It also seems to be fast, handling everyday tasks, such as browsing the web, with ease. The power/lock and volume keys on the right side of the phone are easy to reach, while a 3-in-1 tray on the left can accommodate two SIM cards and a micro-SD card. Audio fans wil be pleased to hear that Honor has opted to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack on the base of the handset. It lines up alongside a single speaker and a micro USB port. Users will find a sizable 5.99-inch, 18:9 HD display on the front of the phone, with a Snapdragon 450 chipset, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage under the hood. The Honor 7C also boasts Android 8 Oreo, an 8-MP front camera and a 3,000-mAh battery. In combination with an attractive price tag, this makes the 7C worth checking out. The 7C steps up to a Snapdragon 450 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage by default, while also providing the 3-in-1 card slot option or an upgraded 64GB model. The device feels substantially more modern thanks to its superior materials and processor. It is fast, smooth and very nice to hold in the hand. A fingerprint scanner is at the back of the device, which is a handy addition when it comes to biometric security.

The rear-facing dual camera (13 megapixels + 2 megapixels) delivers decent shots. Shots taken in daylight looked crisp, delivering a fantastic ‘bokeh’ effect in the various test shots. However, those taken at night lacked both clarity and detail, which is the case with most cameras on all but high-end phones. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is something to write home about. It has a standard 8-megapixel sensor, which, when paired with an LED flash, seems impressive. The resulting selfie is brimming with detail, even if it was taken in relative darkness. The display, however, is another matter. The 5.99-inch 18:9 FullView (1440 x 720) LCD screen did not really impress, delivering sub-par viewing angles and low maximum brightness. Text is not sharp enough to be easily read, in part due to the standard HD resolution, and colors appear slightly off. Mid-range phones are getting cheaper and better these days. Some even have flagship-like specifications. The Honor 7C is no different. It takes some very good hardware, including a 18:9 screen, and puts it in a rather attractive shell with an affordable price tag.

81% Honor 7C Smartphone Review | Notebookcheck
The letters make all the difference. The Honor 7C is a lower mid-range smartphone in large format with a modern full-view display. Unfortunately, the dual camera's second sensor has a very low resolution. Can we take that hit in exchange for this low price?
Honor 7C Review
Source: Fone Arena English Archive.org version
At a starting price of Rs. 9,999, the Honor 7C is good upgrade to 2016’s Honor 5C. It has a larger screen, faster SoC, sleek design, dedicated dual SIM and microSD slots, and good battery life. Even though it has dual rear cameras, the image quality is not the best compared to other phones in the range. If you can mange with hybrid SIM slots, the Honor 7X that received a price cut recently at Rs. 2000 higher price tag is a better choice since it features a better screen, cameras and it will also get the GPU Turbo graphics processing acceleration technology later this year that will make the phone faster.

The Honor 7C offers above-average performance overall. Choose it if you want a dual-camera setup for daylight photos with a bokeh effect, a large 18:9 display, good battery life, and Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. Performance isn’t the best out there, especially when compared with the Redmis on sale, but it certainly gets things done.

70% Honor 7C review: A jack of all trades, with one catch
Source: India Today English Archive.org version
The Honor 7C is a little confusing. And that makes it a little to recommend. Even though, like most Honor phones, the Honor 7C is also a jack of all trades. The Honor 7C feels good, has a modern display that works well, it metes out decent all-round performance, and it comes with capable dual cameras. The Honor 7C also has the latest in software, and a battery that should last one full day for most users. But it isn't remarkably better than the Honor 7A. If you're looking to buy an Honor phone on a budget, the Honor 7A is the phone to get. In case you can extend your budget a bit, you can also go for the Honor 9 Lite.

Honor 7A and 7C Review: A Seven Point Summary
Source: Tech PP English Archive.org version
Both the Honor 7A and 7C are contenders in the sub-Rs 10,000 category with the 7A, in particular, being a great option for anyone seeking an 18:9 aspect ratio display, dual cameras, and face unlock at a relatively affordable price from a high-profile brand. The 7C has a much tougher battle to fight but it remains one of the better options for anyone seeking a good device for under Rs 10,000. And that is not really a bad place to be, believe us.

70% Honor 7C Review
Source: NDTV Gadgets English Archive.org version
The Honor 7C looks sleek, is built well, and is loaded with features. Battery life is decent and so is the display. That said, EUMI is laggy and laden with third-party bloat, and both the front and rear cameras are average at best. Potential buyers should take a look at the Oppo Realme 1 (Review), which lacks a fingerprint sensor but offers a better-rounded package, or the Redmi Note 5 (Review) which offers far more value for money. The Honor 7C is also priced dangerously close to Honor's own 9 Lite (Review), which has a higher-resolution display, a better set of cameras, and a sleek glass body.

Extremely affordable. With the 7A, Honor promises an affordable smartphone with a large display area. In addition, the smartphone offers some particular functions such as dual SIM with a separate microSD card reader, and a surround mode. You can find out in our test, whether these are just gimmicks or whether the Honor 7A is really convincing.

Honor 7A and Honor 7S, First Take: False economies?
Source: Zdnet.com English Archive.org version
Buying an ultra-low cost smartphone might prove to be a false economy. Frustration with laggy response times, poor cameras or short battery life could deter you from using a handset in the first place, which means missing out on what a smartphone can offer. Alternatively you might decide to upgrade to something better and consign the inferior phone to the back of a drawer.

70% Honor 7A review: Good-looking budget phone, but there are some misses
Source: The Indian Express English Archive.org version
Honor 7A is in line with most budget offerings in the market and it comes with dual rear cameras, which is a plus. However, the phone misses out on performance, which is a crucial factor for me while choosing a good phone. In this aspect, Redmi 5 has a slight edge over Honor 7A given the overall performance. Those willing to spend an extra Rs 1,000 can go for Redmi Note 5, which packs a slightly better, though older the Snapdragon 625 processor. It features a single 12MP rear camera, though the results are good. Honor also has the Honor 7C, with dual-rear cameras and full display in a similar price range.

50% Honor 7A Review: Entry-level Luxury?
Source: Recombu English Archive.org version
At £139, the Honor 7A is a commendable entrant in the affordable smartphone space. It undercuts entrants like its launch sibling the Honor 7C, the Honor 9 Lite and Motorola’s new G6 Play but for that extra level of affordability, sacrifices have been made. It stands out for that elongated display at such a low price point but beyond that, it feels like a wholly forgettable handset.

75% Honor 7A review: A jack of all trades
Source: India Today English Archive.org version
The Honor 7A feels really good, has a modern display that works well when you're out and about, it metes out decent all-round performance, and it comes with capable dual cameras. The Honor 7A also has the latest in software, and a battery that should last one full day for most users. Clearly, the Honor 7A is a jack of all trades, and a viable alternative to Xiaomi's best in-class Redmi 5. It may not be the best phone that you can buy under Rs 10,000, but, it's right up there and should definitely be on your list if you're out to buy a new budget phone.

Price could be the plus point for the Honor 7S as it packs most of the features a first-time buyer is seeking. The main aim of Honor launching so many smartphones – including the 7S – is to give Xiaomi a run for its money.

The Honor 7s comes out as just another budget smartphone with nothing really special about it. The taller display is surely one of those things that are trickling down to the entry-level segment, but the inadequate memory and storage is an instant deal-breaker. OEMs should realise that running a full-fledged version of Android (that too with a customised skin on top) with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage isn’t a pleasurable experience. Perhaps if this was powered by Google’s Android Oreo (Go Edition), the experience wouldn’t have been so sluggish. Either way, it would be difficult to recommend this phone to anyone. Instead, I’d suggest to spend a bit more and get the Honor 7A or the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro.

Honor has tried to deliver a low-cost phone with attractive features, and while it does look quite good, we found actual usage to be frustrating on multiple levels. Even some of last year's phones at this price level deliver better features and performance. Buyers are likely to be turned off by the lack of a fingerprint sensor and the weak specifications before they even get their hands on this phone. Camera quality was particularly disappointing, and many people specifically look for phones that support 4G on both SIMs.

60% Honor 7S review: A budget smartphone yes, but how does it perform?
Source: The Indian Express English Archive.org version
Honor 7S comes with a neat design, solid build quality and feels good for its price. In case you prefer a handset with good design, bright and nice display, Honor 7S can be an ideal pick. Even though the phone packs a single rear camera module it performs well in most situations. Further, you get a front-facing camera with LED flash support which is hard to find in this price range. It even bundles decent battery backup that promises a day’s worth of usage.

Honor 7S first impressions: A new kid in the block
Source: The Indian Express English Archive.org version
Overall, Honor 7S offers a decent pack of features for a budget smartphone. It directly competes with Xiaomi Redmi 5A which also comes with similar configurations.

Honor 7S First Impressions: A mobile for 1st time smartphone users
Source: The Mobile Indian English Archive.org version
Honor 7S is clearly targeted at the first-time smartphone users and the company has priced it accordingly. Which we think is a bit steep. The phone comes loaded with a decent design and the display looks good as well. The camera performance is decent, though you should expect great performance from the processor. That said, the phone will face a stiff competition with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5A, Yu Ace, Infinix Smart 2 and 10.Or D2.

50% Honor 7s review: Looks great, performs terribly

The Honor 7s has a great look to it, far beyond its super-low price tag. But good looks, a nice display, and a somewhat decent camera cannot save this phone from its biggest flaw. It's slow, slow, slow.

We should note that the phone is not currently available in the US. However, if you are in Europe you can grab it for €119 in select countries. At this point, we don’t know whether Honor has any plans of launching the handset in the States. So for the time being, customers in the country who are looking for a budget phone can opt for the Honor 7X, which offers improved specs at a slightly higher price point.

So that’s it for our Honor 7S review. If it weren’t for the poor performance, I could suggest this as a gift for your Grandma or someone else who doesn’t need any high-end features. As it is, I wouldn’t wish this on your Grandma.

Huawei's Honor 7S is about as affordable as phones get
Source: CNet English Archive.org version
The latest Honor phone though, the 7S, is truly a phone for those on a tight budget. It'll sell for just £99 in the UK, where it's now available. Though there's no word on an Australian or US release, that price roughly translates to $129 and AU$175.

Honor:

In 2014 Huawei created the sub brand Honor and offers certain smartphone series under this name. Occasionally the products are also called Huawei Honor.

The market share of Honor products is manageable, but there are several reviews on Honor smartphones with average ratings (as of 2016).

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

ARM Mali-T628 MP4: Integrated graphics card (for ARM based SoCs) for smartphones and tablets. Features 4 cores (MP4) and supports OpenGL ES 3.0

ARM Mali-T830 MP2: Integrated graphics card for smartphones and tablets with two clusters (MP2) supporting OpenGL ES 3.2.

Qualcomm Adreno 506: Integrated graphics card in the Snapdragon 625 SoC and based on the new 500-series architecture with support for Vulkan, OpenGL ES 3.1 + AE (3.2) and UBWC.

Qualcomm Adreno 505: Mid range graphics card integrated in the Snapdragon 430 and 435 SoCs. Based on the 500 generation and supports modern standards like Vulkan 1.0, OpenGL ES 3.1 + AE, OpenCL 2.0 and DirectX 12.

These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.

Imagination PowerVR GE8100: Integrated graphics card for entry level ARM SoCs. Smallest variant of the Series8XE series of GPUs (GE8xx0) with a peak fillrate of only one pixel/clock.

75.15%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
