HiBy has unveiled the R3Pro II, a portable digital audio player with dual CS43198 DACs, quad OPA1622 amps, high-resolution music streaming from Tidal and Qobuz, and the ability to drive balanced wired headphones as well as Hi-Res Audio wireless headphones.

HiBy has launched the R3Pro II digital audio player targeting high-resolution music enthusiasts who want a petite device that can be easily carried about.

The HiBy R3Pro II utilizes dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 DACs coupled with quad 4x OPA1622 high-fidelity headphone amplifiers that are capable of driving high-impedance headphones through the 3.5 mm stereo and 4.4 mm balanced headphone jacks. The DAP provides a maximum 121 mW of power at a maximum of 2 Vrms for 3.5 mm headphones and 480 mW of power at a maximum of 3.91 Vrms for 4.4 mm headphones. The DAP has a frequency response range of 20 Hz to 90 kHz with a THD of 0.0005%, dynamic range of 128 dB, and SNR of 126 dB with balanced headphones.

Music can also be streamed to headphones over Bluetooth 5.1 connections using regular-quality SBC, AAC, or aptX codecs or the Hi-Res Audio-compatible LDAC codec. The DAP can also send streaming music received over Bluetooth or USB from other audio sources to connected wired and wireless headphones.

For integration with home audio gear, the R3Pro II can receive music over DLNA, Apple Airplay, and Bluetooth sources and output to USB-C audio out, USB-to-S/PDIF, and line out.

The R3Pro II supports a wide range of common audio file formats, including MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV, and OPUS as well as DSD256, MQA 8x, and 32-bit 384 kHz PCM streaming audio over Wi-Fi from services such as Tidal and Qobuz. A microSD card slot allows users to store thousands of songs on cards up to 2 TB in size.

Users control the R3Pro II using a 3.3-inch 740 x 480 pixel LCD touchscreen, which gives access to nuanced MSEB audio controls, such as sibilance and tonal warmth, not found on most other DAPs. The Linux-based HiByOS can be updated over-the-air.

The DAP measures 3.4 x 2.4 x 0.9 in. (86.9 x 60.6 x 21.6 mm) and weighs 5.6 oz. (160 g). The 4,000 mAh battery has a runtime of 21 hours and fast-charges in 2 hours using a USB-C power source.

The black and silver models come with a matte glass back while the green and orange models come with an Ultrasuede polyester-covered back. Interested readers can pick up a HiBy R3Pro II for $199 from the HiBy website today or soon from the HiBy store on Amazon.
