Here’s when your Huawei device will receive the HarmonyOS 5.1 update

If you own a recent Huawei smartphone or tablet, you have likely been waiting for information on the next major software update.

The wait is nearly over. After debuting with the Huawei Pura 80 series in June, Huawei has now confirmed that the

HarmonyOS 5.1 update will begin reaching its first wave of devices by the end of July. While the company has kept the exact date under wraps, the release is expected in the coming days.

This update follows the software's release on wearables like the Watch 5, which received new health monitoring tools and user interface improvements. Now, attention turns to what HarmonyOS 5.1 will bring to phones and tablets.

Huawei has officially listed the smartphones and tablets included in this month's rollout. The update will first appear on the company's flagship and recent models.

The phone lineup includes the Huawei Mate 70, Mate 60, and Mate X5 series, along with the Mate XT Ultimate Design and Mate X6 series.

Owners of the new Pura X and Pura 70 series will also receive the update. The list extends to the Huawei Pocket 2 and the Nova 14, Nova 13, and Nova 12 series.

For tablet users, the update is scheduled for the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 2025, MatePad Pro 11 2024, MatePad Pro 12.2, MatePad Air, and MatePad 11.5S.

The software brings multiple improvements, focusing on artificial intelligence and camera performance. You can expect smarter AI functions and noticeable upgrades to photography, especially in night mode.

The update also adds more developer options, including enhanced UI components and better access for applications to use system processes securely. These changes are designed to give you a more flexible and capable operating system.

If your device is not on the initial list, you may not have to wait long. Models such as the Nova 11 series, P60 series, and Mate 50 series are expected to get the HarmonyOS 5.1 update in the upcoming months.

However, an official schedule for these older devices has not been published yet. For the Mate 40 series, Huawei is considering an update to HarmonyOS NEXT, a separate system that is built without Android code.

The company recently sent a new software patch to the Mate 40, likely to prepare it for a future operating system upgrade.
