Hands-on video of the dual-camera Samsung Galaxy A8 Star surfaces online
Samsung seems to be very busy in China these days, since the Galaxy S8 Lite — also known as the Galaxy S Light Luxury — should get a larger companion. With a display size of more than 6.2 inches, the massive SM-G8850 is expected to hit the market as the Galaxy A8 Star and a first hands-on video that shows it has just surfaced online.
The video mentioned above does not reveal much, but there are two essentials that must be highlighted: the lack of a notch in the display and the presence of a dual camera setup on the back. Although there is no information about the processor yet, the other main features have been revealed already, although they are not official for now. Their list includes a 6.28-inch Super AMOLED display with 2,220 x 1,080 pixels, 4 GB of memory, 64 GB internal storage, a 16 MP selfie shooter, a 24 MP + 16 MP main camera, all driven by a 3,700 mAh battery.
The Samsung SM-G8850 runs Android 8.0 Oreo, which is not surprising at all. With a lot of luck, maybe Samsung delays it long enough for it to launch with Android P onboard, but we wouldn't bet on that.
Although there is no official launch date for the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, it should be unleashed upon China in the coming weeks. In the meantime, maybe Samsung decides to introduce the 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 Lite to other markets as well.
