In-display fingerprint readers coming to the Galaxy A series next year

In-display fingerprint readers coming to Galaxy A handsets in 2019

Although various Chinese underdogs are already selling handsets with in-display fingerprint readers, Samsung still has to release its first such handset. However, while the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 are both expected to use this technology, recent rumors claim that next year's Galaxy A series will feature it as well.

If the latest Galaxy A series-related rumors turn out to be true, Samsung fans who are not aiming for flagships but would also love an in-display fingerprint reader will be able to get a mid-range handset from their favorite brand that uses this technology next year.

When it comes to the new technology mentioned above, the Galaxy Note 9 was supposed to use it, but it looks like this is not going to happen. On the other hand, the in-display fingerprint sensor will be added to multiple Samsung devices starting in 2019. The list of these upcoming devices obviously includes the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 flagships, but it is rumored that the Galaxy A series — in the worst-case scenario, at least the more expensive models — will use in-display fingerprint readers as well.

Unfortunately, the rumor does not reveal any other details. However, based on what happened in the past, we can safely assume that next year's Galaxy A series will be unveiled about a month before the new Galaxy S. If Samsung does not change the launch schedule, the Galaxy A (2019) with an in-display fingerprint reader before the Galaxy S10 flagship arrives.

These being said, remains to keep an eye on the next rumors and leaks about the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy A (2019) series. As usual, if you have any expectations from Samsung's upcoming handsets that you would like to share with the world, let us know in the comments. Before that, you might also want to check out one of the view handsets with an in-display fingerprint reader already on the market, namely the Vivo Nex.
