CES 2024 | HP announces new HyperX-branded controller, headset, keyboards and wireless mouse
HP has launched a bunch of new peripherals alongside the Omen Transcend laptops. It includes two keyboards (HyperX Alloy Rise/Rise 75), a mouse (HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini), a headset (HyperX Cloud Mini) and a controller (HyperX Clutch Tanto Mini). The last two are tailor-made for kids aged 6-12.
The HyperX Ally Rise and Alloy Rise 75 are fundamentally identical keyboards, with the latter offering a 75% layout. Otherwise, they both come with HP's in-house HyperX Linear switches and PBT keycaps. Those who want to use their own switches can do so with ease, as they're hot-swappable. HP also sells tactile and linear switches for the keyboard ($25 a pop). One can save up to ten profiles on device and the keyboard even comes with a rotary dial. Lastly, it has a polling rate of 1,000 Hz and per-key RGB. One can purchase the HyperX Alloy Rise for $200 and the HyperX Alloy Rise 75 for $170 in Spring 2024.
As its name suggests, the HyperX PulseFire Haste 2 Mini is an ultra-compact wireless gaming mouse that weighs just 59 grams. Its 370 mAh battery can supposedly last 100 hours on a single charge. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, wired and 2.4 GHz wireless. It uses a HyperX 26K sensor, allowing for a maximum sensitivity of 26,000 DPI and a 1,000 Hz polling rate. HP lets you store only one profile on it, though. At least you get a pair of friction-reducing skates with it. You can buy the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini later this month for $80.
The HyperX Clutch Tanto Mini WD Gaming Controller is essentially a pint-sized Xbox gaming controller. Wireless operation isn't possible, but it works with PCs and current/last-generation Xbox consoles. Similarly, the HyperX Cloud Mini is a shrunk version of the HyperX Cloud, one of HP's most popular wired gaming headsets. It comes with a detachable microphone and a USB-C cable. Wireless connectivity is limited to Bluetooth, and one can get only 25 hours of battery life. The HyperX Clutch Tanto Mini WD Gaming Controller costs $40, and the HyperX Cloud Mini costs $50. Both go on sale in Spring 2024.
