The new HP Victus 16 with AMD is like old wine in a new bottle. Except, it is the other way around where the hardware is slightly updated while the outer shell remains the same. I don’t blame HP for repurposing the old chassis, but the sharp edges and flimsy hinge do leave one wanting more. Thankfully, the core hardware is actually quite good. It is not a massive upgrade from last year, but if you are looking for a gaming laptop that is not overly expensive, has an understated design, and is powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 6000-series CPUs, the new Victus 16 is a good choice. It offers great CPU performance that is sufficient for everyday work and almost everything that you throw at it. Gaming performance is good too, and while the RTX 3050 Ti is not very beefy, you can run most of your latest games at medium to low settings. There is also the factor of future-proofing where HP offers two M.2 storage and two memory DIMM slots, allowing you to add or swap the hardware if and when required.

This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
