HP turn around! HP now follows the example set by Lenovo since 2012 with its Yoga. Owing to cleverly designed hinges, the new Pavilion can be used in four different modes. However, we soon discovered that unfortunately the transition is not always smooth.

Better options do exist, when it comes to specs from brands like Acer and Lenovo, but the HP Pavilion 13 with its petite frame, lightweight form factor tries to offer something in areas that others haven’t fully locked down on. It is highly ultra portable as a device, offers encouraging audio performance, oodles of storage space and good battery performance. For a laptop that’s suited for basic tasks and a little casual gaming on the side, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Red temptation. The Pavilion 13 would like to spare buyers the necessity of choosing between tablet and notebook experience by combining both worlds. It is driven by an AMD APU. In addition, it delivers good battery life and plenty of storage space.

The HP Pavillion 13-b102TU is an elegant, attractive laptop with basic core specifications but just enough extra to justify its price tag. Students and workers who live off their laptops will particularly appreciate the large hard drive and matte screen, but this laptop would be just as suitable for home use too. Battery life is on the low side, but that's the tradeoff necessary to achieve this weight and thickness.

The Pavilion x360 13 is standing evidence that you can get a lot for your money—$479.99, to be precise—in a 2-in-1 these days. Outside of the fact it’s too bulky to use as a frequent tablet replacement, and that HP gunked it up with a bit too much pre-loaded software for our liking (which you can remove, of course), we found little to complain about for the price.

HP has delivered an affordable 2-in-1 that's fast enough to be your primary PC. For $530, the Pavilion x360 13t offers a powerful Intel Core i3 processor, dynamic audio and reliable battery life in a flexible hybrid body. We just wish the touchpad were less stiff. Overall, this is the best value-priced, 13-inch convertible yet.

HP's Pavilion x360 13t is designed to offer a 13-inch convertible laptop for a low cost and it unfortunately shows. The system is heavy to use as a tablet, has poor battery life and the screen is dim making it near impossible to use outside. About the only positives is it uses the latest generation of Core i processor for slightly better performance and is available in red rather than boring black or silver.

The word convertible brings my mind to cars where the roof opens out and in a way turning a Notebook into a Tablet is much the same transformation. This Pavilion unit from HP can be a standard Notebook however push the screen back through 180 degrees and you have a Tablet.

HP Pavilion 13-an0000ns
Great news for professional users who prefer to work with an ultra-portable laptop! HP has come up with a new laptop for their HP Pavilion 13 series, the HP Pavilion 13-an0000ns. As implied by its name, this new laptop has a 13.3-inch display, a measurement that users who prefer portability will enjoy. The HP Pavilion 13-an0000ns comes equipped with an Intel Core processor, the i5-8265U. This model of CPU comes with four cores, and with the hyper threading technology, it can handle eight logical threads. It also has 6 MB of cache memory, and with Intel's Turbo Boost technology, it can clock at a frequency of 1.6 GHz to 3.9 GHz. With this CPU at the core of the laptop, users will be able to do mid-level of processing tasks including casual video and image editing. Heavy editing may throttle the CPU and cause a drop in performance. As it is not a gaming laptop, the HP Pavilion 13-an0000ns only comes with an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics card. Casuals gamers may be able to run low-intensive games like indie games or older AAA titles that don’t need a lot of processing power to run. The laptop also comes with an IPS panel with a Full HD resolution. The display has an excellent color reproduction and pretty wide viewing angles. It is great to note that even HP decided to do away with the traditional and slower hard disk drive and instead opted to put in a 256 GB SSD storage drive. There is also the option to expand the storage drive by adding a large SD memory card. To help the system to run more smoothly, HP also added an 8 GB RAM of memory. Those who wish to upgrade to a bigger RAM capacity will be disappointed that there is no room for upgrade. As for connectivity and ports made available, the HP Pavilion 13-an0000ns comes with one USB Type-C port, two USB 3.1 ports, one HDMI output, one headphone/mic combo jack, one SD card media reader, and a dual-band WiFi plus Bluetooth 4.2 combo chip. There is also a 720p webcam that is probably only good for basic video conferencing. Even though this is not a gaming laptop, it comes with a backlit keyboard, for those who prefer to work in dim/dark rooms. Measuring at 15.4 x 311 x 211 mm and weighing at about 1.3 kg, this lightweight and compact 13.3-incher may just prove to be a hit with those whose priority is ultra-portability. Even though this is not the lightest 13.3-inch laptop in the market, the hardware specifications make it a little impossible to ignore when one is shopping for a new laptop. HP: Founded in 1939, the US company is a major server and printer manufacturer and one of the leading IT companies in the world. Until 2015, the company was called Hewlett-Packard Company. After a split, the computer division was renamed HP Inc.
In 2023, HP had an approximate market share of 22% of global PC sales, making it number 2 after Lenovo.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4400:
ULV integrated GPU (GT2) with 20 EUs found on certain Haswell CPU models.
AMD Radeon R5 (Beema/Carrizo-L): Integrated graphics card in several AMD APUs (Beema and Carrizo-L).
Intel HD Graphics 5500: Integrated graphics card (GT2) in the Core processors of the Broadwell U-series (15 W TDP).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrated GPU (GT2) with 24 EUs found on some Skylake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
Intel HD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2) found on some Kaby-Lake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.
Intel UHD Graphics G1 (Ice Lake 32 EU): Integrated graphics card in Intel Ice-Lake G1 SoCs based on the new Gen. 11 architecture with 32 of the 64 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model ranging from 300 MHz base to 1050 - 1100 MHz boost. The Ice-Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm process at Intel produced.

6200U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.
i5-8265U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.9 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.
Intel Kaby Lake:
i3-7100U: Kaby-Lake based SoC with two CPU cores clocked at 2.4 GHz (no Turbo Boost), HyperThreading and manufactured with an improved 14nm process.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
i7-8565U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.6 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.
Intel Ice Lake:
i3-1005G1: A low-power, Ice Lake family processor (SoC) featuring 2 cores, 4 threads, 4 MB of L3 cache and the UHD G1 (32 EUs) iGPU. This Core i3 saw the light of day in 2019; it is designed for use in highly portable consumer laptops of the more affordable flavour. The CPU cores run at 1.2 GHz to 3.4 GHz which is not a lot. The Sunny Cove microarchitecture that is in use here is notable for several improvements over Skylake including support for new technologies, new instruction sets and fast LPDDR4-3733 RAM. There is no PCIe 4 support here, however.

13.00:
There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
No weight comment found (one expected)!
74.13%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
