The OmniBook Ultra is HP's first notebook based on the brand new AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The device offers better features than the OmniBook X with Snapdragon X Elite, including a larger battery, USB 4 and quad speakers.

Only in May did HP announce its first modern notebook with OmniBook branding, the OmniBook X with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite. Now comes the OmniBook Ultra, a slightly more expensive notebook equipped with the brand new AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, including the new Radeon 890M iGPU, which should provide adequate performance for not-so-demanding gaming titles.

At a height of 1.65 centimeters and a weight of 1.57 kilograms, the OmniBook Ultra is slightly thicker and heavier than the OmniBook X, but also has a larger 68 Wh battery. HP advertises a runtime of 21 hours when playing videos, which does not quite reach the 26 hours of the Snapdragon model, and charging is still via USB-C with up to 65 watts. The AMD model comes with up to 32 GB LPDDR5x-7,500 RAM and a PCIe 4.0 SSD with a maximum capacity of 2 TB.

The notebook has a 14-inch IPS panel in 16:10 format with a resolution of 2240 x 1400 pixels and a maximum brightness of 300 nits. The webcam has been upgraded to 9 MP with an infrared camera for Windows login via facial recognition, and the speakers are quad speakers with DTS:X Ultra support. Two USB 4 ports (40 Gbit/s), one USB-A port (10 Gbit/s), WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 round off the features.

Prices and availability

The HP OmniBook Ultra 14 is expected to be launched in August at prices starting at $1,449.99.
