Gaming laptops with Nvidia’s RTX 4090 slipped under US$3,000 in early May, but these GPUs mostly get paired with the top CPU options. HP now allows customers to configure the Omen 17 models with an RTX 4090 plus a less expensive i7-13700HX processor, lowering the price further to US$2,359.99.
For this price, the configuration also features 16 GB DDR5-4800 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. On the screen side, HP is including a 17.3-inch 1440p IPS panel with 165 Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB color gamut and 300 nit brightness. The i7-13700HX features 8 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores boosting up to 5 GHz, while the RTX 4090 is offered with the full 175 W TGP.
Port selection includes 1x Thunderbolt 4, 1x USB-A 5 Gbps with PD, 2x USB-A 5 Gbps for data transfers, miniDP + HDMI 2.1 video outs, headphone/mic audio jack, GbE jack and a full-size SD card reader. Wireless connectivity is provided through a Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.3 card. This model has a beefier case with 27 mm profile (1.06 inches) and ~2.8 kg (6.2 lbs) total weight, which allows for better cooling performance, minimizing noise in full load. The system comes with an HD webcam, stereo Bang&Olufsen speakers, 4-zone RGB keyboard and an 83 Wh battery.
