As a matter of fact, there are more Intel 9th Gen-equipped laptops that are coming our way (and not only Intel’s by the way), so we are very curious of where the HP Omen 17 2019 is going to sit. We are also curious what the battery life is going to be, but we would know for sure as soon as we can get our hands on a retail unit.

Despite its high price, the current high-end configuration of the HP Omen 17 is still significantly cheaper than other RTX 2080 laptops. Find out whether the HP Omen 17 can keep up with its competition in aspects other than performance in our detailed review.

Our few gripes aside, the Omen 17 is a big and fast gaming laptop at a price that is typically reserved for lower end configurations, especially when moving past bland designs. The Omen 17's aesthetic is more in line with a boutique system and it is packing some seriously powerful hardware.

Still, for the money? It’s hard to knock the HP Omen 17. That’s been our verdict for a few years running now, and it suffices for 2019 as well. It’s neither the lightest laptop nor the fastest, but HP’s made smart choices when it comes to kitting out this bargain build. A better battery, proper RGB lighting, and a reduced size would be welcome revisions—but then it wouldn’t be the Omen 17, and it doubtless wouldn’t come in so cheap.

HP's Omen laptops just keep getting better. This latest 17-inch model impresses with a bright 1080p, 144-Hz display, powerful RTX 2070 graphics and a comfortable RGB keyboard. But so do a lot of other gaming laptops. What really differentiates the Omen 17 is its competitive price. At $1,629, the Omen 17 is one of the best bang-for-your-buck gaming laptops around. Of course, there were some shortcuts taken: The laptop is mostly plastic, and its battery lasts for only a few hours.

HP's flagship Omen 17 blends an attractive design with strong performance to make a solid big-screened gaming rig. It's a good value, although its fans could be quieter and its upper configurations don't offer a configurable per-key backlit keyboard.
