After giving a sneak peek into Gemini during the I/O conference in June, Google has now finally made the AI model available on December 6th. As per Google’s official blog post, Gemini will eventually power most Google AI services.
With the latest optimizations, Gemini has three sizes - Nano, Pro, and Ultra. Gemini Nano will run natively on Android devices and will be available offline. Gemini Pro, a stronger version, is now powering Bard and will run Google’s AI services in the future. Next year, Google is planning to launch Gemini Ultra - the most advanced LLM created by Google for highly complex tasks.
According to the same blog post, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, mentioned that the new AI model will be integrated into Google’s search engine, Chrome browser, ad products, and other services in the near future.
At the moment, Bard has now started running on Gemini Pro. Meanwhile, the Google Pixel 8 Pro (curr. US$799.00 on Amazon) is the first phone to be engineered for Gemini Nano and will get new features. Gemini Pro will be available for use via Google Generative AI Studio or Vertex AI starting December 13th.
