Elon Musk's Grok AI chatbot now rolling out to subscribers
Grok, a chatbot created by xAI, has officially launched on X (formerly Twitter). In a post on the social media platform, Elon Musk, founder of xAI, revealed that the Grok AI (beta) is now available to X Premium+ subscribers in the US. Users are asked to provide as much feedback as possible to help improve the chatbot.
The next phase of Grok AI's rollout will be to other English language users, with access expected to be provided in around a week. After this, the company plans to tackle the Japanese language, given this is the second largest user base of X. Musk notes that he hopes chatbots for all languages will be released by early 2024. The irreverent chatbot has been designed to deliver humorous answers, though early users are debating just how funny it is.
Grok-1, the model behind the tool, combines real-time data from X with data from the web, as recent as Q3 2023, and human feedback. If you are an X Premium+ subscriber in the US, you can access Grok via X's side menu, which is available on the web or with the latest iOS and Android apps. In other news, a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revealed that xAI wants to raise up to $1 billion in funding. The document indicated that around $135 million has already been found. Confusingly, Musk denied this, stating in a post on X that "we are not raising money right now".
