Nintendo Switch accessory brand Human Things, which has created a versatile lineup of accessories, launched a new Kickstarter campaign on 6 January 2026 for what it calls Genki Grips.
A $99 pledge on Kickstarter is all it takes for Nintendo Switch 2 users to obtain the entire roster of Human Things modular Genki Grips. Early backers will also get a starter kit that includes both the uniform and split shells, which allow you to detach Joy-Con controllers. The kit also includes various ergonomic grips to fine-tune comfort for different finger and palm sizes.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched in mid-2025 and has been praised for its bigger screen and better performance, along with a strong lineup of first- and third-party games. However, users have reported hand cramping and numbness, particularly when using the Joy-Con controllers during long gaming sessions.
While many Switch 2 users have opted for third-party grips for better ergonomics, Human Things wants to up the ante with its modular Genki Grips. Their new Genki Grips are an evolution of their earlier Switch 2 accessories, such as the Attack Vector Case, which came in three grip sizes: Feather, Balance, and Anchor. However, the Attack Vector case was poorly received by users, as many reported issues with button triggering due to the case’s bezel and the console's docking.
However, the new Genki Grips will feature even more ergonomic options, including vibrant colourways. While not much is known beyond the different grip types, Human Things is hinting at additional features, as evidenced by their tagline, “Comfort, colour, carry, and power.”
Just a mere day after the campaign launches, Human Things’ Genki Grip project has already raised over $50,000 from over 500 backers, blazing past its $10,000 goal, with 38 days still to go.
Earlier in 2025, Genki had a run-in with Nintendo, which sued the former over early mockups and pre-launch accessory marketing. However, Genki and Nintendo settled out of court, with terms reportedly emphasising that the former could not leverage the latter’s IP directly in future endeavours.
Early backer enthusiasm and endorsement for the Genki Grips just go to show that Switch 2 users are tired of cramping their hands during long gaming sessions. The Genki Grips might be the perfect ergonomic solution to the Switch 2’s design. With the campaign already surging past its milestone, backers can expect to receive their Genki Grips Starter Kits in the first quarter of 2026, assuming things go smoothly.
