Galaxy Unpacked confirmed for August 5, Note 20, Fold 2 inbound
Samsung fans will be delighted to learn that the company has now locked in the date for its next Galaxy Unpacked event. Held online only for the first time due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the event will be streaming from 10 a.m. Eastern Time on August 5. The short teaser video teases both the next Galaxy Note 20 S-Pen as well as the new Mystic Gold color that will feature on this year’s device.
As normally the case, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will be one of the premiere Android smartphone launches of the year as the Note series is considered one of the very top choices for power users. This year, along with the new color, the Note 20 is expected to be joined by a Note 20 Ultra in a similar approach to the launch of the Galaxy S20 series earlier this year. Both models are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 in the US and China while most other markets will pick up the revamped, and controversial, Exynos 990 but in 992 form.
Also expected to join the Galaxy Note 20 in launching on August 5 is the next generation Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. Thought to now fall under the Galaxy Z branding, the device is also said to be powered by the Snapdragon 865, although in all markets where it will be launched. Following the last year’s Galaxy Fold launch debacle, you can expect Samsung to double down on device quality and refinement. Although most users eventually found the shipping Fold to be quite serviceable, it was still prone to easily damaged screens and grit getting into the hinge mechanism.
