"One fold, infinite possibilities". That is the tagline for Samsung's latest promotional tweet on the subject of its next major product launch. Accordingly, it may be a strong hint that a successor to the first-gen Galaxy Fold will have a place in this August 2020 show.

Samsung has released a short trailer video on Twitter that strongly hints at a foldable debut for the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. Its abstract content consists of a molten-looking, Mystic Bronze-colored sphere that transforms into a curving butterfly-like shape. Therefore, it suggests that a device that perhaps closes vertically is being teased here.

This would indicate the next generation of Samsung's first-ever folding tablet, which is thought to undergo a slight rebrand to the name Galaxy Z Fold 2 in 2020. This device had been rumored not to make the August 5, 2020 event at all; however, the OEM may now plan otherwise.

Then again, it is possible that the "one fold" is in fact the Galaxy Z Flip 2, which also has a flexible display but presents it in a clamshell form factor. In addition, it is still possible that Samsung may show the (possibly more expensive) Z Fold 2 off instead without setting a release date at its imminent launch. This speculation would be in line with reports that suggest the device is not ready for prime-time yet.
