GTA 6's massive download size confirmed as Rockstar moves pre-load date forward

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will require up to 212 GB of storage and has moved its pre-load date up by two days. Digital pre-orders can now begin downloading the game on November 10, ahead of its November 19 release. Players planning to pre-load GTA 6 should therefore ensure they have sufficient free space before. Nine days should ideally be long enough to get GTA 6 primed for launch.
According to Rockstar's latest announcement, PlayStation 5 owners can begin pre-loading at midnight local time on November 10. Xbox Series X|S players can start downloading at 12 AM GMT on the same day. The previously announced November 12 date still applies to physical editions, which include download codes rather than physical discs. Interestingly, earlier rumours about GTA 6's enormous storage requirements were pretty close to the official figure. As we reported earlier, PlayStation Game Size claimed that the PS5 version would require 210 GB, just 2 GB below Rockstar's newly confirmed upper limit.
An earlier report from October 12 also discussed claims of a development build exceeding 200 GB. While development builds do not necessarily reflect final download sizes, this one was on the money. Rockstar notes that storage requirements may vary by device. Hopefully, this translates to some respite for Xbox Series S owners, especially those with the 512 GB variant.
