GMK NucBox mini PC to rip on the Intel NUC, come with a Celeron J4125 and challenge the Chuwi Larkbox
Not to be outdone by the recent Chuwi Larkbox, another Chinese manufacturer will be crowdfunding its own super-small 4K mini PC. The GMK NucBox will be almost the same size as the Larkbox but with a slightly faster Celeron J4125 processor, more RAM, and a faster 2x2 802.11ac WLAN module as detailed by the comparison chart below.
Visually, the GMK system will have a dark gray metal finish on four sides in contrast to the jet black Larkbox. Port options will otherwise be identical to suggest that the two models may be using very similar motherboards.
|GMK NucBox||Chuwi Larkbox|
|CPU||Intel Celeron J4125||Intel Celeron J4115|
|Dimensions||62 x 62 x 42 mm||61 x 61 x 43 cm|
|Weight||125 g||127 g|
|Storage||128/256/512 GB SSD||128 GB eMMC|
|RAM||8 GB LPDDR4||6 GB LPDDR4|
2x USB 3.0
|2x USB 3.0|
3.5 mm audio
|Wi-Fi||2x2, 867 Mbps||1x1, 433 Mbps|
The one detail that remains unclear is whether or not the NucBox includes a secondary M.2 2242 expansion slot much like on the LarkBox. If not, then the LarkBox will have an advantage when it comes to expandable storage.
GMK says its Indiegogo page will go live on August 20 with an early bird price of $159 and a target retail price of $209 USD.
