GKD has now brought the Mini Plus Classic gaming handheld to Kickstarter, two and a half months after teasing the device. Available from US$139, the GKD Mini Plus Classic has already reached its Kickstarter funding goal and should start shipping in January 2023.

The GKD Mini Plus Classic is now available to back on Kickstarter, a week after the company revealed more details about the gaming handheld. To recap, the GKD Mini Plus Classic combines a 3.5-inch display, a Rockchip RK3566 chipset and 1 GB of RAM. Additionally, the device has expandable storage and modern connectivity standards for pairing a wireless controller or local multiplayer with another unit.

Building on the GKD Pro, the GKD Mini Plus Classic has two joysticks, four action buttons, a d-pad, and four shoulder buttons. Moreover, Game Kiddy has integrated L3 and R3 buttons within the device’s frame, which sit beneath a power button and a pair of microSD card readers. Unsurprisingly, the GKD Mini Plus Classic comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port, which adorn its bottom panel.

At the time of writing, the Kickstarter campaign has exceeded US$47,000 with 14 days remaining, nearly 10x its funding goal. While Game Kiddy offers the GKD Mini Plus Classic for US$139, this price is only open to ‘VIPs’ who pledged US$1 before November 9. Alternatively, the company sells the device in Sky Blue and Space Grey colourways for US$149. Currently, Game Kiddy expects to start shipping to Kickstarter backers in January 2023.
