Fujitsu announces the world's lightest 13.3-inch Lifebook laptops weighing only 634 g, Intel Tiger Lake and AMD Renoir processors in tow

For the past several years, Fujitsu has been breaking record after record for the world’s lightest laptops, and this year, the Japanese company has done it again with the latest Lifebook UH-series powered by Intel Tiger Lake and AMD Renoir processors. In order to further reduce the weight of the 13.3-inch notebooks, Fujitsu made several design modifications such as replacing the top metallic cover with a carbon fiber one plus the reduction of assembly parts from 80 to around 40, and other minute design revisions. Additionally, the recharge DC connector was replaced with a USB-C port, and the bezels as well as the depth of the display were reduced. Thanks to all these modifications, the Lifebook UH-X / E3 models weigh only 634 g (1.39 lbs).

Specifications for the UH-X / E3 include an Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU coupled with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 1 TB NVMe SSD storage, a 13.3-inch non-glossy IGZO FHD display, plus a 25 Wh battery that can last up to 11 hours. Port selection features 2x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 + 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 connectors, GbE jack, HDMI video output, SD card reader and audio jack. Note that, due to the weight reduction measures, these models are not upgradeable.

Fujitsu will also provide slightly heavier (834 g) UH90 / E3 models with only 512 GB storage, but also with a more generous 54 Wh battery that can last up to 22.5 hours. These models will come in Picto Black, Garnet Red and Silver White color options.

Furthermore, Fujitsu plans to later release AMD models that weigh slightly less than 1 Kg. The UH75 / E3 models are powered by a Ryzen 7 4700U APU coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 250 GB storage. The display on these models is not as good as the IGZO one on the Intel models, unfortunately.

As far as pricing and availability are concerned, the UH-X / E3 models are expected to start selling on October 30 for 220,000 Yen (~US$2,100), while the UH90 / E3 models will be priced at 210,000 Yen (~US$2,000) and the UH75 / E3 models will go on sale on December 10 for 190,000 Yen (~US$1,800). These will be released only in Japan for the time being, but should later be launched globally with adjusted prices.
