Krikkz’s newly announced EverDrive GBA Pro flash cartridge brings modern conveniences to original Game Boy Advance hardware, including save states, an in-game menu, gyro and tilt support, and an adjustable real-time clock for time-sensitive titles. Despite a higher $129 price tag and the absence of rumble features, the Pro’s rapid sell-out and broad support for GBA, GB, GBC, and NES titles underscore its appeal for dedicated retro handheld enthusiasts.

The developers behind the Everdrive roster of flash cartridges for the Game Boy Advance, Krikkz, have announced a new feature-rich version of their GBA cart, called the Everdrive GBA Pro. It was announced on 23 December and has already sold out in less than a day since.

The new Everdrive GBA Pro model is designed to give Game Boy Advance fans more features while retaining the core ability to play legally procured ROMs via an SD card. It’s already garnering attention in the retro gaming niche, and the fast sell-outs just show how much in demand it is.

So, what does the Pro version offer compared to the original Everdrive and Mini models? Well, it offers save state functionality, a complete in-game menu, and support for up to 98 save states, so you can grind through those challenging GBA games without losing progress.

It offers additional features such as tilt, light, and gyroscope sensors to support games that make the most of these capabilities. The Everdrive GBA Pro also comes with a real-time clock that can be tuned to avoid in-game time issues in games like Pokémon.

Other features include cheat code support via the mGBA format, menu customization, and lightning-fast ROM loading. It also supports NES, Game Boy, and Game Boy Color games.

However, it doesn’t pack features like rumble, so you lose out on some haptic feedback in games like Drill Dozer and WarioWare: Twisted!.

However, the Everdrive GBA Pro costs a pretty penny at $129, which is $30 more than the base model’s $99 price tag. However, the added functionality does make it a decent investment. Krikkz is still planning to sell the original and Everdrive Mini versions for those looking to save a quick buck and stick with core functionality.

Right now, the Everdrive GBA Pro is out of stock, and shipments for the next batch are expected to arrive in mid-January 2026. If you’re looking to preserve your GBA, NES, and Game Boy library, the Everdrive GBA Pro could be a flash cart to look out for in the coming year.
