Epic Games has cracked down hard on a person who cheated in Fortnite. Along with a lifetime ban, the player was hit with a fine and asked to post an apology video on YouTube. In an X post, the official Fortnite Competitive says the company donated that amount to a charity, but didn't mention exactly how much it was. Eurogamer opines it could be a few thousand dollars.
The 20-second-long video isn't your typical YouTuber apology, and it is just some text overlaid on a white background with no audio. The player, who goes by Repulse on YouTube, lent their account to a person called Forbes, who then helped Repulse qualify for a Fortnite tournament. This happened in 2023, but Epic Games seems to taken action only now.
Epic Game's approach towards dissuading cheaters in Fortnite seems to be a lot more precise compared to the likes of EA. While it might not dissuade players from cheating, those who get caught will not be let off easy. Not too long ago, the company completely shut down Apex Legends on Linux because cheaters were supposedly using the platform to gain an unfair advantage in games.
