The South Pole of the moon is about to be colonized. And just like in Fortnite, it works even better as a team. But beware: reduced gravity!

The anticipation of the future cannot be overlooked in the Fortnite mission "Lunar Horizons". In the game, the colonization of the moon has already begun. Now it's time to find and collect raw materials.

Finally, infrastructure is needed, including a habitat, because at some point it will get uncomfortable in the spacesuit. This is roughly how the mission, which is the result of a collaboration between Epic Games, the ESA and the design studio Hasell, is described.

And, of course, there's also a bit of learning involved. Among other things, it is about which raw materials are available, what can be built from them and how survival without air and water actually works.

The change in gravity could provide additional entertainment. The Earth is around 80 times heavier than the moon, but on the moon you are closer to the center. This results in a gravitational pull reduced to one sixth.

The springy gait can hardly be simulated with the means of Fortnite. The ability to finally jump 50 or 100 yards or meters is easier to implement.

Apart from that, there is a lot of knowledge about current and future ESA moon missions hidden in the game. Among other things, the Argonaut lunar module, which is currently being developed, can be viewed.

To find the mission in Fortnite, you can use the search function or the code 3207-0960-6428 can be used.

In the video below you can see how the "Lunar Horizons" was created. All that remains is to wish you lots of fun.
