Dreame launches new smart trash can with auto bag dispensing

Dreame has released a new smart trash can in China. The Dreame Life SP09 Pro Smart Trash Can is the latest innovation from the brand, which already offers smart home products like robot vacuums, robot lawn mowers and smart lightstrips.

The Dreame SP09 Pro Smart Trash Can has an integrated smart sensor that automatically opens the lid when trash or a hand is detected overhead. It has a double lid design, which the company says should prevent your hand from touching the lid. At the press of a button, you can trigger the lid to stay open for a prolonged period, which could be useful while cleaning a room.

Another smart feature of the Dreame Life SP09 smart trash can is automatic bag dispensing. According to the product listing, suction is used to open the trash bag to cover the sides of the bin. Dreame suggests that its 9L (2.4 gallon) capacity reduces the need for frequent emptying, though it appears to be designed for use in a bedroom or bathroom, rather than a kitchen, given its size. The battery-powered smart trash can has a white plastic outer with a gold accent, and it measures 347 x 304 x 156 mm (~13.7 x 12.0 x 6.1 inches).

In China, the Dreame Life SP09 Pro Smart Trash Can retails for CNY 329 (~$48) at retailers like JD.com. It is unclear whether or when this smart home product could be released in other markets like the US, where the brand already sells devices like the L40 Ultra Gen 2 Robot Vacuum and Mop (curr. $569.99 at Amazon).
