At the end of May 2022, the Dell XPS 15 9520 with a 3.5K OLED touchscreen display and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics visited our labs for an in-depth review. The hardware configuration that is now discounted by 21% on Dell's website uses the same chassis and Intel Core i7-12700H processor but comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics and a non-touch FHD+ non-glare display.
Dell US has the XPS 15 9520 with 16/512 GB and the aforementioned processor-video card combo available for US$1,499, a price that is the result of a US$400 drop. This hardware setup comes with Windows 11 Home included, while Amazon has the Dell XPS 15 9520 listed with the same configuration, but Windows 11 Pro installed instead, with a price tag that reads US$1,743.99.
The thorough review mentioned in the opening paragraph revealed that the Intel Core i7-12700H-powered XPS 15 9520 is 40% faster than the Intel Core i7-11800H-driven XPS 15 9510 and no less than 70% ahead of the Intel Core i7-10875H-fueled XPS 15 9500. However, these figures only apply to multi-threaded office/business use scenarios. The review pointed out that "If the faster 12th gen CPU is not appealing, then you can instead purchase the XPS 15 9510 which has the exact same display and GPU options as our 9520 but at lower prices."
The ongoing discount on Dell's website and the increased need for computing power in office tasks might be enough to make the discounted Dell XPS 15 9520 a worthy buy even in 2023, as proven by the latest user reviews that have been published this month on Dell US.
