Archive.org versionThe WLED screen looks good with a native resolution of 1366 x 768, which is a little higher than 720P HD (1280 x 720). While the screen is nice on the eyes, what really stands out are the speakers and how nice they’re on the ears. Using JBL speakers, the XPS 14 offers some serious sound quality; much higher than you’ll see from most other notebooks, especially ones in this size.

Archive.org versionDell had originally launched the XPS lineup of laptops as Xtreme Performance Systems, targeted specifically at enthusiast gamers and users who needed a portable graphics powerhouse. The Dell XPS 14 is one of the finest gaming machines available today. It has a very stylish design and comes with some of the best laptop hardware available. I would definitely recommend it.

Archive.org versionWhen Dell told us of its plans to revive its tried and true XPS laptop line we were pretty darn excited. Without a doubt, the Dell XPS 14 packs some extremely attractive features: the system's JBL speakers are some of the best ever put into a laptop, its Core i5 processor combined with NVIDIA GeForce GT400M provides seriously solid gaming and performance muscle, and its HD webcam captures crisp video and pictures.

Archive.org versionWe're particularly impressed with the look and feel of the XPS 14, at least when you open it up. While the lid is rather bland, the inside is anything but. While it's not going to replace your desktop, the Dell XPS 14 is a wonderful alternative to the spate of underpowered netbooks. Put simply, the XPS looks stunning and packs a respectable performance punch in a highly portable package.
