The Latitude 5580 is a strong contender if you seek a high-end, high-performance office desktop-replacement. It's a sturdy, speedy machine that can be configured just about any way you like, with features enough to satisfy your fussiest employee. However, its size and power make it something of a niche or near-workstation system, as we mentioned. The Lenovo ThinkPad T470 retains our Editors' Choice for business laptops due to its more portable form factor, matchless keyboard, standard instead of optional Thunderbolt 3, and available epic battery life.

Dell is a company with huge traditions in portable enterprise and business computers. One of its main rivals is Lenovo (formerly IBM) with its ThinkPad series and the ThinkPad L570 in particular. More challenge in this category is found in the face of HP’s EliteBook.

Dell Latitude 5500 review – it will certainly enhance your business experience
Source: Laptop Media English Archive.org version
Of course, there are some setbacks as the barrel plug charger (we saw that this laptop can be powered from the USB Type-C connector), as well as a lack of a SATA 2.5″ drive option. Nevertheless, we think that the M.2 PCIe x4 slot definitely makes up for that as it offers significantly fast storage plus it has an optional LTE support.

There is nothing unexpected from this laptop. Our tests proved right what we were thinking when we got the device in our hands at the beginning – it is pretty much the same laptop as the Latitude 5501. With that said, we don’t mean to discredit the Latitude 5500. Totally the opposite in fact.

Aside from this bizarre design setback, the laptop is solid – the input devices are exceptional – especially the keyboard. Not only it has clicky feedback and a long key travel, but it has by far the best NumberPad – its keys are the same size as the rest, and there are dedicated keys for deleting, changing the status of the number, a shortcut for clear entry and for launching the calculator app, itself – pretty useful stuff, if your work involves a lot of calculations.

Dell Latitude 15 5511 review – good battery life and potent CPUs for your business
Source: Laptop Media English Archive.org version
So, guys, if we have to be honest, the laptop we’ve reviewed today is 99% the same piece of machinery, as the Latitude 15 5510. It has pretty much the same body (although it is a bit thicker and heavier), and the features are basically the same. Ultimately, this means that the only meaningful difference between the two is the performance. And with the quad-core CPUs, we clearly got a significant victory for the H-series devices. And we expect the difference to be even greater when you jump to the 6-core unites.

Dell Latitude 15 5520 review – paving the way to sustainability
Source: Laptop Media English
To sum up, what we’ve got today, we want to start with the environmental aspect of this notebook. From having the plastics inside of their XPS packages made out of ocean-derived recycled materials to using bioplastics from byproducts of paper production, Dell is perhaps the biggest environmentalist from all mainstream laptop makers. And yes, we believe that similarly to the electric vehicle boom in the last couple of years, good nature-conscious laptop manufacturing habits should be vocalized, and popularized.

Review – Dell Latitude 5520: Who is this for?
Source: NLT English
Like what we mentioned at the beginning of this video, this is the Dell Latitude 5520. Latitude series is meant for businesses, hence it comes with all the options to include a service card reader, contactless smart card reader, all of those security features. It also has the option to include vPro manageability – which is only useful for enterprises with lots of employees. From an enterprise perspective, I think it’s a decent laptop. It’s durable, has a large screen, a full-sized keyboard for work (cough bad arrow keys cough), and is also rather power-efficient as we can charge via the Thunderbolt 4 port with any USB-PD chargers. You can also buy more warranty services and a tech support phone label (which costs RM84) on top of the existing one – but I think that only makes sense for enterprises. For general consumers like you and me, I don’t think this laptop is suitable for you.

Dell Latitude 15 5521 review – boring but quite powerful
Source: Laptop Media English
Before we conclude this review, we want to praise Dell for its efforts on the environment. Although they don’t go as aggressively as Acer with their Vero laptop, Dell still uses up to 21% of bioplastics. Given the commercial use of business devices, this can make a big impact in the grand scheme of things. And where it lacks in thickness, it makes up with low weight. Ultimately, the laptop is well built, offers a good amount of power, thanks to some six, or eight-core offerings from Intel. The GeForce MX450 works surprisingly well, and offers a performance similar to a GTX 1050 Max-Q, but only taxes 28W of TGP.

Dell Latitude 15 5531 review
Source: Laptop Media English
If you’ve seen our Latitude 15 5530 review, then, you should know that the downsides of owning a 5531 are pretty much the same – no keyboard spill resistance, and narrow color coverage. On the other hand, you do get optional 5G support, as well as an IR, face recognition scanner, a fingerprint reader, and Wi-Fi 6E support. Dell Latitude 15 5531’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. You know – all of the goodies of the IPS technology. Additionally, the backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment, which makes the display pretty safe in this aspect. Unfortunately, it only covers 52% of the sRGB color gamut, which results in a pretty dull-looking image. Interestingly, despite the use of a 45W CPU, and even with the smaller 64Wh battery pack, the laptop manages to last for more than 10 hours of Web browsing, or nearly 9 hours of video playback. This means it should last you through an entire workday. However, if your workflow includes intensive apps like Solidworks, CAD software, and all alike, you shouldn’t be unplugging the charger in the first place.

Dell Latitude 15 5530 review

We are happy that most of the manufacturers are doing more to help the environment. Given the volumes of electronic waste, they are highly responsible for improving the situation we live in. And yes, we think that this is a valid reason to buy a laptop that aims to be sustainable. Nevertheless, there are more reasons to get the Latitude 15 5530. Although it is the first proper laptop that comes with an Alder Lake-U processor we’ve tested, we are positive that it is a very big step up, compared to the Tiger Lake models. We saw a good boost in tasks like 3D model rendering, but the biggest improvement here was with Photoshop. The scores are very similar to those of the Core i7-11800H, which was one of the top processors of last year. And keep in mind we “only” had a Core i5-1235U. Thankfully, if you need more raw power, you can choose a P-series processor, and even opt for a GeForce MX550. Dell Latitude 15 5530’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. Furthermore, its backlight doesn’t use PWM for any brightness level.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.

In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.

For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel HD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2) found on some Kaby-Lake CPU models (15 W ULV series).
