100% Dell Inspiron 14 Review
Source: Toptenreviews English
For those looking for a small laptop at a good price, there are few that offer as much as the Dell Inspiron 14. It packs a lot of power in its standard configuration but we believe that most consumers will find some upgrades preferable to the base unit. Dell’s web site is particularly good at allowing the consumer to have the computer built to individual specifications and keeps a running tally of what effect changes have on the unit’s price. Dell’s customer service and warranty plans are plusses for making this choice.

Dell's Inspiron 14 is their middle sized budget laptop system with a 14-inch screen to help keep its size down. While the pricing can be very attractive, Dell made a few interesting choices when it comes to the system to keep the prices low. Of course, Dell offers a wide range of upgrades on custom orders but these will quickly add to the price and can push the systems cost well past many similarly equipped laptops. The system is functional but best serves those that need specific features.

While many laptop buyers will gravitate toward specialty machines--such as a tiny Netbook for travel or a massive desktop replacement for gaming or video editing--there are still plenty of people who need a traditional midsize laptop. We call these 14-, 15-, and 16-inch systems members of the "mainstream" category, and they are the workhorse backbones of the laptop biz. Dell's middle-of-the-road Inspiron 14 offers a decent low-cost mainstream Core 2 Duo package, but we would have liked better battery life and more graphics options.

The Dell Inspiron 14 is a no frills budget portable laptop. I can’t find a lot wrong with it for the price. The major complaints would be the fact there are no newer digital output ports such as HDMI, no status indicator lights other than power, the look is pretty plain and finally if you configure a Core 2 Duo processor the price quickly jumps. Positives include that the weight and size are good and you get an optical drive and media card reader that are missing from the more expensive studio 14z. If you’re considering the Dell Inspiron 14 you should also check out reviews of the HP dv4t 14-inch laptop and Dell Studio 14z 14-inch laptop.

Solid and reliable-feeling, the Dell Inspiron 14 5000 (5482) could be a winner with people who want a decent workhorse laptop that they can customise to meet their specific storage and memory needs. If you want something primarily for writing or video work, then the cheaper Optane-enhanced HDD option might benefit you, and there’s a dedicated GPU offering there which might be especially useful for editing work – though we don’t have an idea about colour space coverage or temperature, so that’s a little harder to call right now.

Dell Inspiron 14 5482 2-in-1 review – good but impractical
Source: Laptop Media English
Dell Inspiron 14 5482 2-in-1 is certainly a well-built device. However, it is not the best you can find on the market today. Yes, the touchscreen responsiveness is awesome, but there is more to be desired from the screen. While it is punchy, it lacks half of the colors in sRGB and is dimmer than what you would expect from a multimedia device.

The 14-inch Inspiron convertible starts pretty cheap at under $600 USD for both a 1080p touchscreen and a modern Whiskey Lake-U CPU. We go more in-depth on the system to find out what else it may be hiding when compared to the competition.

Dell Inspiron 14 5480 review – lower the budget, not the quality
Source: Laptop Media English
Inspiron 14 5480 is a solid device with great upgradability options. Not only it enables you to install the fastest SSDs out there, with its M.2 PCIe x4 support, but it features a 2.5″ SATA drive slot and two RAM DIMM slots. Additionally, it has a dedicated graphics card (optionally) that can play most of the eSports titles without a problem, and even some of the AAA games on lower resolution and less eye candy, of course.

Dell Inspiron 14 5490 review – two workdays on a single battery charge?
Source: Laptop Media English
Dell Inspiron 14 5490’s display is equipped with an IPS panel (BOE NV14N4H-2X30K (BOE082E)) with Full HD resolution, decent contrast ratio, comfortable viewing angles, and adequate default settings. However, its backlight flickers at every brightness level, except for the maximum and its color coverage is pretty modest.

With that said, we cannot miss praising Dell for leaving at least one RAM SODIMM on the motherboard, as well as supporting PCIe x4 drives via their PCIe x4 slot. However, what gave us the biggest enjoyment was the battery life of this sucker. With its larger than average 51Wh battery pack, we were able to get more than 16 hours of Web browsing and around 15 hours and a half of video playback. This is a huge improvement over its predecessor, despite the latter got pretty decent results, as well.

Unfortunately, we were not satisfied with this laptop. There are a lot of promising things about it, like the great input devices, including the keyboard, touchpad, and touchscreen. Also, it comes with a bundled Pen inside the box. However, the base version is very limiting. It only comes with 4GB of RAM and the Core i3-1115G4. Thankfully, you can upgrade the memory via two SODIMM slots, so it’s not the end of the world.

80% Dell Inspiron 14 (5406) 2-in-1 review: This convertible laptop is good for work and play
Source: The Indian Express English
If you want a premium looking convertible laptop for everyday use, then the Dell Inspiron 14 (5406) 2-in-1 does the job well. This notebook is certainly good for basic tasks like sending emails, browsing the internet, and watching films. Yes, you can use the laptop for serious tasks like editing photos or light videos. I just feel Dell could have done a better job with the battery life. But I can’t entirely blame Dell. I think part of the blame is on Intel too. That said, there is nothing wrong with the Dell Inspiron 14 (5406) 2-in-1. It’s very much a polished notebook that won’t make you embarrassed when you take it to a cafe.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Onboard (shared Memory) GPU built in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset (Montevina). Because of two more shaders and a higher core clock, much faster than the old GMA X3100. Still not advisable for gamers (DirectX 10 games not playable or only with very low settings). The integrated video processor is able to help decode HD videos (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) , e.g., for a fluent Blu-Ray playback with slow CPUs.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.

NVIDIA GeForce MX130: Mid-range graphics card for mobiles based on the Maxwell architecture. Renamed GeForce 940MX.

Intel UHD Graphics G1 (Ice Lake 32 EU): Integrated graphics card in Intel Ice-Lake G1 SoCs based on the new Gen. 11 architecture with 32 of the 64 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model ranging from 300 MHz base to 1050 - 1100 MHz boost. The Ice-Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm process at Intel produced.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

Furthermore, the SoC integrates a Intel UHD Graphics G1 graphics card and Wifi 6 / Thunderbolt partly integrated. The chip is manufactured in the modern 10nm process at Intel.

i7-1065G7: Ice Lake based low power quad-core processor for thin and light laptops. The four cores clock between 1.3 - 3.9 GHz and should offer 18% more IPC (instructions per clock) than the previous generations (and therefore partly close the clock speed gap). Produced in 10nm at Intel.

Intel Tiger Lake:

i5-1135G7: An energy-efficient quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family designed for thin and light laptops. Manufactured on improved 10nm process at Intel. Core i5-1135G7 has an integrated Iris Xe G7 (80 EUs) GPU.

1.4 kg:

This weight is typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal.

2.3 kg:

Usually subnotebooks, ultrabooks and quite lightweight laptops with 12-16 inch display-diagonal weigh as much.

80.1%: This rating should be considered to be average. This is because the proportion of notebooks which have a higher rating is approximately equal to the proportion which have a lower rating.
