As Cyberpunk 2077 continues its slow plod up from its disastrous launch, with patch 1.2 set to release soon, modders are working on improving aspects of the game that CD Projekt Red appears to have left untouched. Nicobellic300901, for instance, recently launched a fix for Cyberpunk 2077's notoriously grainy SSR (screen space reflections).
While gamers with top-tier RTX cards like the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 can enjoy high quality ray-traced reflections, just about everyone else - including those with lower-tier RTX cards like the GeForce RTX 2060 - have to settle for standard screen-space reflections. These are significantly lower resolution and temporally unstable, but the biggest issue is their graininess: noise artifacts make Cyberpunk 2077's vanilla SSR look unpleasant, even at ultra settings, and its downhill from there.
Nicobellic300901's Grainy SSR Begone mode attempts to rectify this. The mod appears to be a simple denoising filter implemented in Reshade, which you will need to install separately. It doesn't seem to have much of a performance impact, with the author claiming typical systems will incur a mere 1 FPS hit.
Cyberpunk 2077 certainly has a long way to go before making up for its launch. Every bit of improvement counts, though, and Grainy SSR Begone can help make the game's reflections that much more bearable with RTX disabled.
