Companies without AI products are reportedly being punished by Computex 2026

For the past few years, companies both big and small have been shoving the word “AI” down the throats of consumers. From laptops and smartphones to operating systems and wearable devices, AI seems to have become the favorite word of marketing people. The problem has gotten so bad that Computex 2026 is allegedly punishing companies that don’t have AI products.
Hardware Canucks claims that any company without any AI product is being pushed out to the event's secondary venues. Hardware Canucks also claims knowing “at least” three companies that have hurriedly pasted the “AI” branding on products like mice and coolers just “so they could stay at the main location”.
Per Hardware Canucks these are companies that have been presenting new products at the main venue of Computex for over 10 years. So, if well-established brands have no way but to plaster AI on their products or risk losing valuable media coverage, what hope is there for smaller companies that just want to make good products without mentioning AI?
The Hardware Canucks report is particularly damning, given that Computex is one of the biggest consumer tech trade shows. Companies both big and small use Computex to showcase their upcoming products, including laptops and even new CPUs and GPUs.
In short, if you were already sick of seeing AI everywhere, Computex 2026 will seemingly make you even sicker. Assuming Hardware Canucks’ reporting is accurate, we will see a lot of AI-branded products from companies like MSI, Lenovo, and more. This includes mundane things that have nothing to do with AI, like keyboards, etc.
Computex 2026 is set to take place from June 2nd to June 5th. So, there is still some time to force the organizers to change their alleged tactics. We have seen how consumer backlash can force change, as Microsoft is scaling back its AI focus in Windows 11.
