Citroen is completing the lineup for its flagship C5 Aircross SUV. With the new 230 Long Range electric motor, the family car is now available as a fully electric vehicle (BEV) and promises a range of almost 700 km. Buyers can now choose freely between EVs, flexible plug-in hybrids (PHEV), and conventional hybrids. Here is an overview of all prices, data, and technical details for the new model.

Competition in the compact SUV segment is tough, which is why Citroën is focusing on maximum powertrain choice. The French brand's new flagship is the Citroën C5 Aircross as a fully electric vehicle (BEV) in the long-range version. With 170 kW, the electric SUV has plenty of power. Citroën is also fitting a large energy storage system, a lithium-ion battery with a net capacity of 97 kWh (104 kWh gross). On paper, that is enough for an electric WLTP range of up to 679 kilometers or 422 miles. Long-distance trips are therefore no longer as much of an obstacle for the EV.

The new EV also posts fast charging times during stops at charging stations. For charging at home from a wallbox or at standard urban charging points, an 11-kW onboard charger for AC power is standard. Things are faster on the highway: At a DC fast-charging station, the SUV draws up to 160 kW. Under ideal conditions, the large battery can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in around 27 minutes. Anyone who wants to drive the fully electric C5 Aircross with the large battery will pay at least €49,690 for the PLUS trim. The better-equipped MAX version starts at €53,690. With the Team D special edition, Citroën adds even more comfort and extra equipment.

For those for whom a fully electric car still does not fit into everyday life, Citroën offers alternatives. In addition to the two BEV versions with different battery sizes, the C5 Aircross is also available as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and as a conventional hybrid. While the PHEV bridges the gap between electric commuting and combustion-engine range, the basic hybrid is aimed at those who want to save fuel without ever plugging in a cable. Cargo space is not lacking in any of the models: the trunk can hold up to 1,668 liters of luggage. The interior is designed as a C-Zen Lounge and focuses entirely on a living-room feel with soft fabrics, ambient lighting in eight colors, massaging seats, and the familiar Advanced Comfort suspension.

The cockpit is fully digital. The main eye-catcher is a vertical 13-inch touchscreen with a waterfall design. In the higher trim levels, AI voice control manages functions and directly accesses ChatGPT from OpenAI. Modern driver-assistance features such as Matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beams and the Drive Assist 2.0 package provide safety, with the latter offering semi-automatic lane changes and a 360-degree camera, among other things. According to Citroën, the new flagship is the largest and most modern car the brand has ever built, with plenty of space for the family and a relaxed driving feel at a price that comes as a positive surprise. Developed on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, the vehicle is produced at the Rennes plant in France.
