BYD Denza Z: Electric hypercar with 1,582 hp and 1,500 kW charging debuts

Debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed: BYD's premium brand Denza has unveiled the new Denza Z, an all-electric supercar designed to push physical limits. The four-seat electric hypercar is based on the new e3 sports car platform and is powered by three electric motors. Together, they produce a total output of 1,582 hp (1,180 kW) and peak torque of 1,240 Nm. As a result, the racing version of the EV accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in just 1.96 seconds. Those figures put the Chinese electric supercar ahead of even extremely expensive combustion-engine icons from Maranello or Sant'Agata Bolognese. Top speed is 350 kph.
The Denza Z's main technical breakthrough, however, lies in its charging system. BYD uses the second generation of its Blade battery and combines it with the new "Flash Charging" technology. Up to 1,500 kW of charging power can flow into the battery through a single port. The result is charging times that make a conventional refueling stop look slow. In just 5 minutes, the state of charge rises from 10 to 70%. A nearly full charge from 10 to 97% takes the EV just 9 minutes. The manufacturer lists the range at up to 410 kilometers or 254 miles.
Denza is launching the compact electric hypercar in three regular variants: a traditional electric coupe, an open-top electric spider, and an electric racing version. The latter is equipped with a large aero package that generates more than 1 ton of downforce at 350 kph. Inside, the brand uses a driver-focused cockpit with physical steering wheel buttons, a 12.8-inch infotainment system with native Google integration, and a Devialet sound system. A dedicated track mode also enables telemetry data recording and includes a one-touch function for controlled drifts.
To underline the capabilities of its electric platform, the BYD subsidiary is also announcing a "Special Edition." This special model, with more than 1,973 hp of total output, is set to attempt a record run on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in fall 2026, putting it directly on Porsche and Xiaomi's home turf. European customers will be able to order the regular Denza Z versions this summer. First deliveries of the electric supercar are planned before the end of the year.
