Cheaper than Garmin: Top smartwatch gets even better with update

We have already reported several times on the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro. The smartwatch impressed in our detailed review with its strong feature set and is now getting another update. This update brings the smartwatch’s firmware to version 4.6.5.2, and the update is 20.73 megabytes in size. It is still not entirely clear how widely this new software update has actually been rolled out.
The update adds new features to the smartwatch, although some of them are already familiar from other watches. Specifically, the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro can now also determine lactate threshold, though in practice this is likely to be a more or less accurate estimate. The lactate threshold marks the boundary between aerobic and anaerobic energy production and is especially important for controlling training intensity. At an effort level above the lactate threshold, for example, you can no longer keep running indefinitely because the lactate level in the blood rises. The lactate threshold is supposed to be determined automatically during running sessions, but a dedicated test run can also be started.
There are also further refinements. Various activity types now offer the option to create a route back to the starting point, which could be a very useful feature, for example on a run while on vacation. According to the manufacturer, sleep tracking also works better, and the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro can now warn users when it loses its Bluetooth connection to the smartphone.
