Casio's new ultra-compact G-Shocks pair a metallic dial with a matte case

Casio has made the GMA-S160 official. The compact G-Shock we covered as a leak last Saturday is now listed on Casio Japan in all three colorways at ¥20,900 each including tax, which comes to about $133. Preorders are now open.
The specs confirm most of what the leak had. There is one correction though: the case is 10.8 mm thick, not the 14.8 mm that was previously rumored. At 40.7 × 35.7 mm and 31 g, this is an actually small, flat G-Shock, not a shrunken version of a chunky one.
The design is the reason to care. The band flows into the case without an obvious seam, so the whole thing looks like one piece. The shape splits the difference between the classic square and the octagonal CasiOak, and the dial is layered — raised indices catch light against a matte case.
Three options are listed, as reported in the leak. The GMA-S160-1BJF is black, the GMA-S160-2BJF is navy, and the GMA-S160-7AJF is a pale cream. All three put a metallic finish on the dial and the buckle against the matte resin.
Durability is standard G-Shock. Water resistance is 200 m, the case and band are resin and bio-based resin, and the crystal is mineral glass. The CR1025 cell runs for roughly three years and accuracy is ±15 seconds a month.
The function list is short by G-Shock standards. There's dual time, a stopwatch that measures to 59 minutes 59 seconds in one-second steps, a full auto calendar to 2099, and a double LED Super Illuminator backlight. A hand shift function moves the analog hands aside when they cover the digital window.
