Casio launches its new Bluetooth-equipped Vintage watches in more markets

Casio’s new Bluetooth-enabled ABL-100 watches have officially launched globally. We first caught wind of the pair in a leak back in June, though it wasn’t until this month that Casio officially listed them on its international website, followed by a subsequent UK listing.

Part of the Casio Vintage collection, the new ABL-100WE-2A and ABL-100WE-7A are now available for purchase in the US, UK, and several European markets, including France, Germany, and Spain. The ABL-100WE-2A features a navy blue dial paired with a silver-tone case and matching bracelet, while the 100WE-7A is an all-silver model, with both retaining the retro silhouette and smart features that made the ABL-100 such an interesting addition to Casio’s Vintage lineup.

Pricing is set at $94.95 in the US and £70 in the UK, and you’ll be able to get the new models directly from Casio’s online store and select authorized dealers. The duo is also available in select European countries like France, Germany, and Spain for €79.90.

At first glance, the new ABL-100WE-2A and 7A look like classic Casio digital watches, complete with angular cases and multi-row stainless steel bracelets. But there are some surprisingly modern tricks beneath that familiar exterior. A built-in sensor tracks your daily steps, displays your progress on the LCD, charts your hourly activity, and can even remind you to get moving when the watch doesn’t register any physical activity for a long stretch of period.

Bluetooth connectivity is another big draw, allowing users to pair the watch to their smartphone via the Casio Watches app and take advantage of automatic time correction, easier access to various features and watch customizations, and syncing of step counts and other activity logs. Not to mention you can also use the app to access around 300 world-time cities and find your phone.

Of course, the ABL-100 isn’t trying to replace your Apple Watch, and as such, there’s no built-in heart-rate monitor, GPS, or workout tracking here. The point is to offer just enough smart functionality to make a traditional digital watch feel a bit more useful and modern.

Finally, the 41.6 x 37.9 x 8.2mm watch also gets dual time, a 1/100-second stopwatch capable of storing up to 200 records, a 60-minute countdown timer, five daily alarms, an LED backlight, and 30-meter water resistance.

The replaceable CR2016 battery lasts up to two years. That’s one less thing to charge—and perhaps the most Casio feature of all.
