Caira is being advertised as a comprehensive camera upgrade for the Apple iPhone. The camera attaches magnetically to the smartphone via MagSafe and features a FourThirds sensor that the manufacturer claims is 400% larger than the sensor of the Apple iPhone 17 Pro’s main camera.
Furthermore, the micro-FourThirds bayonet allows users to attach hundreds of lenses, including those from Olympus and Panasonic. This gives photographers significantly more creative freedom. With a built-in 5,000mAh battery, Caira is expected to offer "all-day" battery life. Aside from that, the manufacturer only provides a few additional technical details, such as information on the autofocus system or the resolution of the sensor. Caira is controlled via an app on the connected iPhone, the camera body has only a single button, which functions as the shutter release.
AI changes pictures via voice commands
The focus of Caira is not on traditional camera features, but on generative AI features. Thanks to an integrated Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Google Edge AI accelerator, Caira can directly access Google's "Nano Banana" AI model and modify photos instantly. For example, it's possible to alter a daytime landscape to make it look as if the photo was captured at night.
The color of clothing or the design of glasses can also be changed instantly via voice command, and even objects like jewelry can be added, as the images embedded below illustrate. However, Caira emphasizes that it is not possible to change people's skin color or distinctive facial features.
Price and availability
Caira will be crowdfunding on Kickstarter starting October 30, but pricing details have not been confirmed thus far. Those who are interested can type in their email address on the manufacturer's website to be notified about any news on this product.
