Akko has launched a new accessory called MetaKey. It's essentially a BlackBerry-esque keyboard case available for the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The company says that it allows users to get the most out of the screen space by eliminating the need for an on-screen keyboard.
Of course, this isn't a new concept for iPhone accessories, as Clicks launched something similar for Apple phones at CES 2024, which is also available for select Android phones. Just like Clicks's offering, Akko MetaKey has shortcut keys, allowing users to quickly launch apps and features with specific keyboard combos.
Another notable aspect of the Akko MetaKey is the built-in magnetic array. This allows users to easily attach magnetic accessories to the iPhone while the keyboard case is on (5K Baseus PicoGo MagSafe power bank curr. $49.99 on Amazon). As for the design, the company highlights that the accessory has precise cutouts, ensuring full access to the ports, buttons, mics, and speakers.
The keyboard case also sports a white backlight, making it easier to type in the dark. Akko MetaKey's overall experience can be tuned with a detachable weight. Users can install a 9-gram weight for a balanced feel, while the case is said to feel very light without the weight.
Among the other highlights of the Akko MetaKey is a passthrough mode for easy data transfers through USB, a dedicated function shortcut for quick numeric input mode, and a "durable PU+TPU" build. The keyboard case is currently being offered at an early bird price and is only available for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Among the two, the former costs $59.99, while the latter goes for $69.99.
